A bestial demon stalks the sewers again. Toshers refuse to work and leave Red Hook for other areas in the city after almost a year of "poor harvests.". Stories say that several people have been brutally murdered by this demon.

House Tarquin has gained great repute on the streets of Red Hook. First the water and then troops destroyed the Long Knives. Even the remaining gangs are grateful for the intervention behind the destruction of the Long Knives. Candles dedicated to Tarquin burn in every shrine placed there by grateful families. In a few of the larger temples, effigies of Tarquin now kneel in false prayer.
Abijah-addad the Nassur of the Labyrinth publically praised Tarquin's intervention. This is great praise from a King of Thieves and cutthroats.

Toshers in Red Hook returning to work after the rainy season, are terrified of "bestial demons" and refuse to go under the streets. Instead they ply their trade by dredging near the mouths of the tunnels and in the drying creek beds.

The Long Knives eat the rotting flesh of the dead. Redjack is a demon, not a man. They hunt humans through the streets for meat and all are frightened of their evil. In the warehouse they call home, drums beat all the night long. Foreigners from the Yin Sloth are teaching them evil sorceries.
The "Wasting" was the last disaster to befall beleagered Red Hook. Many of the remaining families begin to take "The Shekel" and accept relocation to Lopan.
When the mysterious ragged white silk is seen flapping from the upper story roofs, the building is unsafe to go into.
The Long Knives have taken territory in Westgate. This move puzzles other gangs.
Isolated cases of The Wasting" have begun to crop up again.

Red Hook drug suppliers have organized together and hit "Blues" dealers in the streets and as their suppliers move in. They remain puzzled as to the source beyond the Shambles.
The Black Hand continues to look for talent.
The Shadow-Mage has come again. The flayed body of a Long Knife hangs nailed to a post before his manor. The snarling shadows of wolves devoured a gang member during their nightly gathering. The largest spoke and warned them not to trespass again.

With the rain came much needed relief from the terror of the serpent rats.
The "Wasting" (which is what the peculiar disease has become to be known by) grew to terrific proportions many more dying, until recently when it became abruptly non-existent. Large sections of Red Hook have become uninhabited.
Something horrible from Rat's Run has moved into abandoned Red Hook side streets and buildings. Small animals have begun to disappear. One can see strange ragged silk flapping from the windows and roofs of these "haunted" areas.
The Black Hand continues to recruit more talent.
"Blues" use continues to grow.
The Dead walk the streets at night.

With the beginning of the cooler weather the serpent rats have begun to swarm. People are staying off the streets at dark or staying near large fires. More refugees have come up from Rat's Run. In one episode a huge swarm of serpent rats poured into a tavern from the cellar and devoured all the occupants alive. Red Hook dwellers fear the worst serpent rat attacks in living memory. Many street dwellers have taken to living on the roofs of buildings.
A strange illness has been spreading through Red Hook. Sufferers weaken over the course of days, then their bowels and kidneys cease functioning. Shortly thereafter they die choking. All are fearful of this dread illness.
Thankfully, the serpent rat problem means that the Long Knives are kept off the streets at night. Though the drums beat all night long.
Many individuals are escaping their many problems by taking "Blues", grateful that it is such a cheap drug.
The Rains bring jubilation and a rinsing to the streets of Red Hook.

The Drop-outs of Northgate are gone. The neighboring gangs begin to clash over the territory. This probably means an increase in trouble as the Drop-outs used to be more slackers than criminals, though they were able to maintain their small neighbourhood against other gangs.
Red Hook drug suppliers are angered by the decrease in their trade because of the popularity of Blues. Those who trade in Blues are from the Shambles.
The Black Hand has recently recruited new individuals and are looking for more talent.

A new hallucinogen has hit the streets and is becoming amazingly popular. They go by the name of "blues" because of the color. It has the effect of lowering inhibition and inducing a dreamlike fugue of ecstatic visions.
The long lines at the water sources are dwindling as people become more sure of the continued source and stop hoarding. Red Hook is in good spirits as this represents a permanent change for the better.
Press gangs roam the streets of the Old Quarter taking unwary young men for naval service.
An explosion in the population of serpent rats has residents of Red Hook terrified. Fires burn all night to drive them away. Breeding season will come with the rains and then the swarms will begin.

Survivoring toshers in Red Hook are giving up their trade and looking for safer work.
Beware of the silver shekel from the reign of Abdi-banda. A counterfeit operation is melting down the Uruk shekel, mixing the silver with nickel, and counterfeiting this shekel. Apparently their molds are flawed only by the addition of one extra oarlock in the Trireme represent on the obverse.

There is water in Red Hook at the strange Dwarven towers and it is being distributed free! Long lines stretching for blocks run to each pump night and day. At night people burn small fires to keep the serpent rats away. The very poor who now have money to spend on food instead of water are in a celebratory mood. Poor children are making small coins by selling places in line to those with more money than time. Despite the relative scarcity Red Hook is jubilant.
The noble House of Tarquin is responsible for the water.
The Temple of Anu, specifically the local elven priest at the orphanage is responsible for the water.
The noble House of Tarquin is merely trying to buy up the water rights from the Temple so that they can charge for the water.
Serpent rats have been nesting in the stacked bodies of the dead.
In Red Hook the dead walk at night. Evil is abroad and disturbs the quiet repose of the dead. People think it is connected to the individual who has taken up residence in the Shadow Mage's home. He has awoken a slumbering darkness that will consume us all!
The Long Knives are taking rotten bodies from the stacks late at night, to practise strange and diabolical rites that their new leader Redjak has taught them. He's up from the Yin Sloth protectorate and he learned certain unspeakable practises from the uncivilized jungle savages. Proof of this is the three shrunken heads stuck on poles outside the run down tavern they hole up in.
The military is still accepting many recruits from the streets of Red Hook. The young men hope for a better life. A crippled beggar on a street corner claiming to be a veteran of the later wars of subjugation in the Yin Sloth, laughingly called himself an example of the "new life" promised by the military.
December 7 1998
People mourn the loss of friends and relatives lost in the riot. But now that their bellies are full, people are getting on with their lives.
Rumors of the "easterner" who has earned the enmity of the Drop-outs of Northgate have reached Red Hook. Word is that this is the same easterner who is trying to farm abandoned lots in Red Hook.
The Long-Knives are much more well armed these days. Many of them are carrying real swords and a few of the more troublesome ones are wearing armor. They have been practising on some of the refugees from Rat's Run. They strut around like roosters proud and viscious. People are scared.
Serpent rats continue to be the worst problems in years, fires are kept burning all night despite the heat and people are banding together to set watches. Some old tenements nearest to Rat's Run have been found mysteriously empty in the mornings, yet blood everywhere. Most believe that it is the work of swarms of rats like what happened 20 years past during the Bonetwist plague, others hint of darker things.
An evil sorcerer has taken up residence in the manor house that was once home to the Shadow Mage. Locals fear a return of his evil.
Dwarves are everywhere, building strange towers all over Red Hook.
September 29 1998
Thousands of prisoners were taken by the military during the riots. They are being held in encampments in other parts of the city.
The dead are countless and cry out for vengeance. The bodies are stacked like clay brick in the streets and the serpent rats go well fed.
Large areas of Red Hook and Rat's Run were burnt to the ground.
There are more Dwarves lately.
Talk of a larger uprising was swept away by the food and water distributed by the military in the wake of last nights riots. Food distribution centers have been formed at key locations and the hungry line up for blocks.
Toshers in Red Hook banded together and used their meagre savings to purchase a "holy relic" from the Temple of Ea that is said to have great powers over demons.

Some crazy farmer is trying to grow crops in abandoned lots of Red Hook. You can never guess what a foreigner will do.
Serpent Rat problems are causing people to keep torches lit at night. Several block fires have resulted.
Many hopeless young men are signing on to the military. "It's better than starving."
The Drop-outs continue on their rampage looking for the "Easterner". As he hasn't been spotted around of late, they have become more violent.
The Long Knives played a "game" last night with 3 children, whom they terrorized and hunted through the streets before finally torturing them to death.
The people of Red Hook are becoming angry and desparate in the continuing drought. Trouble continues to move up out of Rat's Run and crowds of their street people are lining the already overcrowded Red Hook streets. Things are starting to look explosive.
August 3 1998
An angry mob in the Old Quarter vandalized some properties belonging to the Tarquin clan. Several members of the family were killed.
The Long Knives have begun breaking into homes and slaughtering the inhabitants for sport. Red Hook folk are arming themselves against the mindless violence being perpetrated "for fun" by this gang. People are saying that they got a "taste for blood" now and won't stop.
The Organizations in the District of Slow Waters have sent reassurances to counterparts in Red Hook that peace is more profitable than conflict at this time.
The Black Hand has recently recruited new individuals and are looking for more talent.
Serpent Rats continue to be a source of fear in Red Hook and Rat's Run.
Short bursts of rioting have broken out in Red Hook. Much property damage but little killing as of yet. Many hungry people have applied with the military but they only accept the able bodied.
The Drop-Outs in Northgate have "dug a hole" for an Eastern swordsman who killed one of their own two nights back. This means that whoever fills the hole with his body wins a lots of face inside the gang. Some of the gangmembers would be trouble even for a man at arms. Tempers are high because the one killed was quite young and the little brother of five others in the gang. They have taken to randomly assualting and beating students to ask about the location of the easterner.
Some of the Drop-outs have started to wear armor in public. Worried merchants are trying to hire their own muscle.

Toshers in Red Hook are refusing to go below the streets and are very afraid because of a "hairy demon" that has been devouring their comrades. "Tosher" is a slang term for individuals who make a living dredging cesspools and scouring sewers for items lost or discarded that might have value.
Last night a swarm of Serpent rats moved north from Rat's Run into Red Hook. The old Street of Kings was littered with the chewed carcasses of those too slow to flee.
A frightened Boruk dropped the reward for information on who vandalized his tavern. Rumors of a rival organization from the District of Small riots have Slow Waters abound.
The Long Knives have been spotted murdering the homeless for sport.
The poor in Red Hook are ready for a full scale riot, the likes of which have not been seen for centuries. Business owners hope the free food and drink at the upcoming festival will calm tempers somewhat.
The military has created a post in an old Red Hook tavern and are offering food, drink, and coin to any able bodied individual who will join the legions.
July 14 1998
A riot broke out in Red Hook as masses of the thirsty poor lost tempers in the intense summer heat.
Water in Red Hook has become very scarce, as supplies of rain water and stored river water has been used up. A brisk trade in water transportation from other districts has sprung up.
One of the orphans at the Temple school administrated by Joshi the Elf was devoured by serpent rats during the night. Most people are keeping windows shuttered at all hours.
The Drop-outs in Northgate have been assaulting students. One student, Jezza of Sethlans Dormitory, was severly beaten. This is extremely unusual for this gang, usually just interested in petty theft, drinking, and drugs. They are also sporting nice new clothes and weapons.

Fire struck the Red Hook Meat Packers and took out a whole block before it was stopped.
Swarms of serpent rats have been spotted in southwestern Red Hook, people have been sleeping with boarded up windows despite summer heat. Indigents from Rat's Run are crowding the poorer districts.
Boruk at the Last Drop is willing to pay good money for information as to who vandalized the tavern last week. (Boruk has been in the "business" for years and he and his tavern are considered "untouchable")
The single polluted stream that is the main source of water in Red Hook seems to be drying up. This hasn't happened in living memory.
The "Drop-outs" street game in Northgate has been spending money very freely and brags about a new "patron".
The very poor are going hungry. The high price of rice has caused some angry disagreement with merchants.

The Long Knives (streetgang in Red Hook) have got a new leader, he's a real bloodthirsty bastard and not just another kid.
The extremely poor have been well-fed of late. There has been a great surplus of cheap sausages.
The serpent rats have been getter bolder of late. People have been seeing them out during the day and there are some stories of attacks.
The ogre from Red Hook Meat Packers has been the cause of the missing children.
