Jane Singhal holds a B.A. in music from Yale and an M.A. in Russian Studies from Princeton. A violin student of Kikuei Ikeda of the Tokyo String Quartet and Oistrakh pupils, Dana and Yuri Mazurkevich, Jane was concertmistress of the Midwest Chamber Orchestra and violinist and director for Interlude, a New Jersey-based chamber ensemble. A vocalist and music instructor, as well, Jane began her teaching career at Ecole Alexandra in Canada and at The Vail-Deane School in Mountainside, New Jersey. Since moving to California, Jane devotes her time to offering early childhood and elementary instruction and impressing upon parents the need for engaging music materials at home and in the schools. Jane lives in Belmont, California with her husband and two daughters in what one of her youngest students has dubbed "The Singing House." Publications: "Tuning in to the Musical Brain," published in Bay Area Parent Magazine and The California Music Teacher (1999).
