Music Classes

My goal in these classes is to bring out the inner "musical child" by sharing with your children --and you!-- the magic of this very special medium. It is essential that children absolutely love their first experiences with music so that they can continue to grow with this rich discipline.

I use nature as a springboard for creative musical activities which allow children to listen with rapture; to experience the musically abstract, such as a steady beat, through movement;  and which spark their imagination. Children are also introduced, at a level appropriate to their age, to the the basic language of music--short tonal and rhythmic patterns. They absorb these patterns very easily through vocal repetition first, later learning to play them on tonal bars and rhythm instruments. Preschool and elementary students experience the pure fun of making music on simple instruments as an ensemble. Older children learn the rudiments of music notation so they can write their own melodies! I try to make each class a celebration of children and their very special musical gifts. Come join us in this celebration!
