Forward, March! (6-8 week unit)

Final Project Description

Children create their own march using the traditional 2/4 time signature and stepwise tonal patterns.

Skills emphasized (using stepwise motion on the staff)

Students learn to:

bulletRecognize and perform a basic vocabulary of  tonal and duple rhythm patterns. 
bulletBecome familiar with the treble clef staff.
bulletNotate simple rhythm and stepwise tonal patterns.
bulletConduct in 2 and recognize different functions of the march.
bulletUse dynamics.
bulletPerform accompaniments or melodies as part of an ensemble.
