The redhead nodded and slowly stood. She paused before taking a step and looked at the palm of her left hand, the mottled mark stark against her pale, freckled skin. As she gazed, her mind flashed through images and fragments of something that seemed a dream. A dream that was burning its way through her soul and mind with a startling ferocity and she had no idea how to make it stop. The images turned to feelings, the feelings turned to sounds, smells, her senses awoke as the images wrapped around her taking her from the waiting room back, back to last night...
Kate's eyes snapped opened and she blinked trying to figure out where she was. She remembered the three dreams she had just experienced. ~No, more than dreams, they were….~ She knew somehow they were more than a simple dream. The incredible pain and aches were gone and she was really cold. She suddenly realized she was naked and she was laying on something metallic. The ad exec tried seeing where she was but the darkness prevailed. Her arms up reached up and ran quickly into an upper barrier, it felt cold, smooth and ~more metal...~ her mind checked in as it connected with the stimulation being sent from her body. Claustrophobia had never been her thing, but then being cold, disoriented and in the dark didn't tend to lead to encouragement. She tried taking a shaky breath in and found it difficult. She wheezed again and flung her arms out and hit "More metal." The sound assaulted her ears. A horse, croaking that was muffled yet echoed. A throbbing began in her left temple and soon wormed its way behind her right eye. And eye she had been blinking furiously trying to make it suddenly able to see. Her arms started waving then, hitting, pounding, more croaking and calls came from her rough throat. The frenzied activity continued and stopped only when something warm dripped into Kate's eye. Blood… She could smell it and even taste it. It took a moment, but the dull ache in her knuckles indicated that might be the source. But at least goddammit it wasn't cold and it wasn't metal. "Plane, oh my god the plane crashed." Her mind had managed to break through the instinctual terror grasping her. She wondered though how a plane crash could account for her nakedness, but that was way too much thinking and the bestial, primitive, emotional side took a club and neatly did away with her logical, sane side. She started screaming then and pounding, "I'm alive, I'm alive, oh god I'm alive." It became a mantra, a litany. Even when her throat could produce no sound, the words and thoughts continued, her lips repeating the only lifeline she had still on her sanity. Just as she was about to shut down completely, her world exploded. Okay, that is a little over dramatic, the darkness was illuminated by a bright light. Kate threw her arms over her face as she had been moved and suddenly was even more cold and bathed in light. "I'm alive," she tried to croak. A warm hand wiped some of the blood droplets from her forehead. "Yes you are." She gripped the hand tight, albeit her grasp sliding some as her hand was slickened from sweat and blood. "Take it easy, my name is Darrian. I've got you and I have a lot to tell you. All I ask is at the end, please don’t slap me. By the end of his explanation, she had kicked him in the
