Ever thought about writing one? I don't mean have you ever contemplated suicide – fuck that – it's the wrong way to go IMO – but as a mind-bending exercise – have you ever written a suicide note? To put yourself in a place where you are writing the last thing you will ever say. You know it is the last thing you will ever say because you are about to take a life, Yours. You are not writing it because of heroic or tragic circumstances – that's a different thought walk for a different day. How long do you think the average person spends writing a suicide note? What is the average length? What are the statistics on how often certain words are mentioned? What word do you think most notes contain? Love, sick, sorry, tired, gone, death, no on cares Fuck this Who would you write it to? Who are most notes left for? Are they typed? Handwritten? Written with what? Wouldn't that suck if you couldn't read it – it was illegible. What is the spelling like in an average note? Where do most people leave their notes? How far in advance do you write the note? Would you use stationary, paper or the back of a McDonald's bag? Why – why write a note? If you're going to kill yourself, why leave anything behind? How much would a suicide note sell for on e-bay? Why would you bid on one? Would it matter what you wrote one minute, day, month, year, century after you wrote it? Do people who leave suicide notes think of any of these questions? Are they really even thinking at that point? What if they fail in their attempt; would the note mean less? Would they write another note I they tried again. How similar would it be to the first, or second, or last one? Think about it. Next time you have an idle minute: waiting in a shopping line, gunning the motor at a stop light, washing the laundry, watching reality TV.
