Clock Tower, Wednesday Evening --------- Drying her face, Barbara looked back in the mirror as she was finishing up. She glanced at a clock and noted that it was almost time. Picking up the pace she focused on how much she was looking forward to spending time with Helena; not how part of her was becoming increasingly nervous at spending time with Helena. Leaning against a wall of the elevator, Helena sighed. She wasn't exactly sure how to approach the evening, not sure what Barbara had planned either. Sliding a hand over her simple blouse, she started laughing as the errant thought that maybe she should change ran through her head. "This is worse than high school, get a grip Barbara." She lingered however in front of the mirror as she tried to see what Helena would see and hoped it would be perfect. She really wanted things to be right for the young woman. Feeling the elevator come to a stop, Helena stood, rolling her shoulders and straightening the collar of her black, button down shirt. She generally avoided collars, but felt the need to do something to dress up a bit. Stepping into the clock tower, she noted that all of Delphi's monitors were dark and smiled to herself. Hearing the elevator, Barbara felt her pulse quicken knowing who had just arrived. " Helena?" She called out loudly even as she ran a hand through her hair once more. "Upstairs, I'll be down in a minute." "I'll wait down here," Helena called back, still smiling to herself. Barbara nodded almost 15 seconds before laughing at the fact Helena could not see her. Taking a deep breath, she headed down to the main area. She paused as soon as she could see the brunette; her pulse picking up again. "Hey," the brunette said, looking to Barbara. "You look beautiful." "I..." She smiled feeling a slight warmth across her cheeks at the compliment. She plucked nervously at her blouse pulling the hem down over her jeans. "Thank you. I really was just going for the casual night out look but beautiful works too." She found her eyes wandering over Helena's form. "You're incredibly stunning yourself." "Thank you," Helena nodded. "Now, do I get to know where we're going yet?" "No." Was the quick reply. "Although there will be food involved." She headed towards the elevator to the garage. "I hope you do not mind driving. Although the fact you used the elevator rather than your normal entry point tells me you are not totally against traveling by other means." She smirked a little then as she pushed the call button. Rolling her eyes, Helena followed Barbara, "So I'm driving, but I don't get to to where to. That makes wonderful sense." "Doesn't it?" She replied sweetly rolling into the elevator and turning to wait for the brunette. "I thought I'd use a little bit of Helena logic for the evening." "I may not be sure why, but I don't think that's fair," Helena frowned, moving to Barbara's side and letting her hand rest on top of Barbara's Feeling reassured by the touch, the redhead turned her hand some so she could grip Helena's hand. "What's good for the goose Helena..." She laughed at the brunette's expression rubbing her thumb over the woman's hand. "Are you even going to tell me why I'm driving instead of you?" Helena asked, looking to Barbara as she laced their fingers together. Barbara leaned against the woman some even as the elevator's doors opened. "Why should I tell you? What's in it for me if I do?" She tried not to laugh as she continued to tease. "Want me to tell you, or just show you?" Helena asked, a much too playful smirk suddenly appearing. Rising to the smirk and attitude the brunette was showing she collected herself some. "Well you always claim to be a woman of action, however I really would need more proof to be able to verify that claim." Moving to lean over, Helena slipped her free hand into the red hair at the base of Barbara's neck before tilting her head up just enough for a good kiss. She made sure that it was strong and passionate, with only a hint of tongue before slowly pulling back. "How's that for a start?" she asked, pausing a few inches away. Her grip on Helena's hand had tightened as the woman neared. She'd closed her eyes overwhelmed by the wonderful sensation of kissing the brunette. Taking in a deep breath she blinked open her eyes, "I, I think it is safe to say that is a very good start. Although any good study requires a large amount of data…" She licked her lips some, "Very large amount." Laughing, the two headed out of the elevator. --------------------- Leaning back against the convertible's seat, Barbara ran a hand through her hair trying o tame it down as she was surveying the half full lot. "Maybe over there, then we are close to the screen and will not miss any of the movies. She glanced over in the dim light trying to read Helena's face. "Are you sure that isn't too close?" Helena asked with a smile. "Too close?" Barbara twisted some trying to gauge the distance to the screen. She looked back to the screen, "No, the recommended viewing distance is about 15 feet per 5 feet rise and I think this is about the right place to get the maximum enjoyment from the movie." Frowning she automatically started working the numbers again. "Does that mean the movie is the only thing here to enjoy?" Helena asked, smirking. Turning back toward Helena, Barbara's frown deepened for a moment only to be slowly replaced by an 'A-HA' face followed closely by a blush. "Well there is the snack bar to visit or we could watch the other patrons." "Or..." Helena said, smiling wider as she urged Barbara toward the right idea. Scooting over a little more, Barbara rested a hand on the woman's shoulder. "Or we could park a little further back." She said a smile spreading across her face even as the implied suggestions behind Helena's prompting was causing a flushed feeling to spread through her body. Helena grinned, "I like that idea." Finding a spot that fit the description, but was still close enough to have a good, clear view of the screen, the brunette put the car into park. "Do you want me to go get popcorn and all that?" she asked. "What would a movie be with out popcorn? Try not to clean out the entire concession stand. We can always get something after the movie if you are hungry." Barbara smirked a little, "Besides the previews are going to start soon and you do not want to miss those." "Yes, ma'am," Helena agreed. After unbuckling her seatbelt, the brunette leaned over to place a brief kiss on Barbara's cheek. "I'll be right back." Having raised her hand to gently slide along the brunette's face during the much too brief kiss, Barbara let her hand drop back down as Helena got out of the car. "You better be, I don't want to send a search party after you. Because if I have to suffer through the previews, so do you." "Promise," Helena said before letting herself out of the car and heading for the stand. Waiting exactly three point 5 seconds, Barbara began fiddling with the movie receiver. Another 25 seconds and she had the back off as she had decided to look at how it was wired. Another 20 seconds had found her looking at the stand and shifting nervously in her seat as she wondered for the hundredth time if this was a good idea. Adding in 40 more seconds her nervous attention was directed back on the poor receiver. She began nervously plucking parts from the receiver trying to not think about how she felt. Trying not to go overboard, Helena got two sodas, the large (not jumbo) popcorn, and only two boxes of candy. Returning to the car, she grinned. "You just can't sit still, can you?" Looking up, the redhead assessed the assortment Helena had brought back. "You actually left something for others, but can we really go through all of that?" She looked back at the various pieces strewn across her lap and the dash, "And I can sit still, I was just..." she trailed off knowing anything she said would help prove Helena's point. "Right," Helena laughed. "I like choices, besides, they don't have pop tarts at places like this," she added. "Well you have plenty of choices." She helped to hold some of the food as Helena settled back in the car. "I'll just put this back together so we can hear what is going on. The reviews for this movie have been good. I think you'll like it." "It'll be great," Helena said, settling back in her seat. Then she frowned, moving again she traded seats with the food so that she was next to the redhead. "There, much better." Having watched the rearrangement, Barbara smiled as the brunette neared. "Much better. And here before you dive into the food, can you hold this please? It was much easier to take apart. It seems to be stuck a little." As she placed the main box in the brunette's hands, she leaned in against the woman trying to put the last few pieces back in. Helena smiled, liking the contact between them as Barbara worked. "Right." Barbara paused and looked up her face close to the meta's, "What do you mean right? You wouldn't be suggesting I did this for some hidden reason would you?" "Just like sitting here, that's all," Helena said, smiling. Blinking a few times at the honest and sincere words, the redhead did not respond instead turning her focus on the receiver. Snapping the cover back on, she put the receiver on the dash. "That's not a bad piece of equipment." She hesitated slightly before adding quietly, "I like sitting here with you too Helena." Relaxing, Helena moved to put her hand in Barbara's now free hand. "And this?" Her eyes had been drawn down by the touch of Hel's hand and now wandered back up trying to find the blue eyes she knew would be watching her. "This..." she stopped and swallowed her word coming out shaky. She squeezed the woman's hand. "I like being with you Helena, and this is part of what I like." "Good," Helena smiled. Then the sound picked up. "Looks like it's time for our previews." "Can't miss those." Barbara teased slightly as she settled against the brunette reaching for some of the popcorn.
