Steve's Room

Steve has this to say about
his room-

My dedicated sound room measures 14'x20'x8' with natural oak flooring and double thick sheet rock walls which
are glued and screwed into the
studs. I'm a strong believer in
acoustical room treatment and favor the approach by ASC.
I use 16" Super Traps in all 4
corners and 11" Imaging Traps
in- between the speakers.

In addition, I use 16 ASC Sound Panels
as wall treatments to decrease the ringing
and slap echo due to my overly bright
and reverberant soundspace.

AC mains power is supplied by 5

non-interuptible 20amp dedicated circuits
which are on the same phase and polarity
corrected on the panel box with isolated grounds.

Source components consist of the fabulous
new MUSE Model 8 DVD/CD/DAD transport
connected to the MUSE Model 296 24 bit/96k DAC.

A completely jitter free connection is achieved
through the use of the 13W3 I2S cable, which was
discovered by MUSE and is used on the
Space Shuttle for ultra high speed data
communications. All amplification is by
BALANCED AUDIO TECHNOLOGY. The new BAT VK-30
pure tube linestage drives a BAT VK-500 amp
with BAT-PAK power supply upgrade.

All cables are by NORDOST with Quatro Fil balanced interconnects and SPM
Reference biwire speaker cables. All supplied AC power cords
have been replaced with the ESP Essence AC cords. I use line
conditioning for the front end components only and have found the
AUDIOPRISM Foundation 3 and Quietline filters to be highly effective.

My speaker of choice is the dazzling REVEL Salon, which I feel is the
most accurate and musical speaker made, regardless of price.
Add a wee dram of single malt scotch and you have an unforgettable
evening of musical pleasure that never fatigues and always enriches.
