IF YOU ARE
A JARDINEROS HOSTESS
Thank you for signing up
to serve as a Jardineros hostess this year. Having drinks and
goodies for the members to enjoy really adds to the pleasure
of attending Jardineros meetings. If you haven't done it before,
here's what to expect.
As Hostess Chair, I will
assign a lead hostess for each month. The lead hostess has the
duty to contact the other hostesses for her month and organize
who will be responsible for what.
The duties of the hostesses
include setting up the chairs in the meeting hall, making coffee
and setting out other drinks and paper goods, bringing and setting
up whatever snacks the group decides on, and cleaning up after
the meeting. It is important that that we leave the kitchen
and meeting hall in as good or better order as we found them.
Plan on getting to the church by 8:30. It takes about half
an hour for the coffee to brew, and setting up the chairs and
the food and drink tables does take a good bit of time. Although
the meeting starting time is 9:30, members often come earlier
to socialize.
The Club provides the coffee
pots and pays for coffee, sugar, sweetener, creamer, tea, paper
cups, plates, and napkins. Each hostess donates the food items
she brings, whether she prepares them at home or purchases them,
and brings any necessary serving items for her dish.
The lead hostess from the
current month will pass the boxes of supplies to the next month's
lead hostess. This can be done at the meeting or at another
time before the next meeting. Do this between yourselves. I
will have boxes of extra supplies. If you are lead hostess and
find you need to refill something, please contact me as soon
as you are aware of the need. Don't wait until the last minute
because I may not have it on hand.
Just for your information,
the Club Treasurer (or her representative) will pick up the money
from the coffee jar at the end of each meeting.
IMPORTANT FOR ALL HOSTESSES:
if you find you cannot fulfill your obligation of hostess, it
is your responsibility to find a substitute hostess and to let
me know who that will be. You may trade places with someone
on the list for a future month or you may find a new person.
