April 29, 2009 Jardineros
de Placitas Dear Judith and our friends at Jardineros de Placitas, On behalf of the Rio Grande Valley Blue Star Mothers, I would like to thank you for your generous donation of snack and toiletry items that will be used in our next packing for the troops. We send care packages to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other far off ports up to 6 times a year. Between Valentine's Day and Easter packing, we have already shipped nearly 600 care packages this year. We are preparing for our 4th of July packing and planning on sending approximately 600 care packages around the end of June. These care packages contain the toiletry and snack items that the troops cherish and need. Some of our troops are in remote locations and treasure these care packages as their connection and reminder of home. Your donation of so many items will help us to reach our goal of 600 care packages. Your support will help make this possible and we appreciate your help! As a mother of two Army soldiers that are both scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in the winter, it comforts me to know that there are friends in our community that are supporting them and praying for their safe return. We will continue our efforts to support the fine men and women that courageously serve our country because of thoughtful contributions from friends like you. Thank you! Sincerely, (signed by) Kelley Way

July 9, 2008 Jardineros
de Placitas Attention: Marty Christopher and Carol Gabel Please thank the ladies of Jardineros de Placitas for their beautifully written notes to our wounded warriors and other soldiers who always appreciate an encouraging letter from home. I will give those letters to Jan Downs and she will distribute to those wounded warriors presently at Walter Reed or Brook Army Hospital. It is so important that they know we are supporting them every step of the way on their road to recovery. Our next mailing to our troops will be on October 11th. We hope to send over 150 boxes and it will be a Halloween theme with food items only. We would love to have your group join us for any of our packings which is done at our warehouse - 2919 2nd Street. You can keep up with some of the acitivities of the RGVBSM on our website - www.nmrgvbluestarmothers.org. We continue these efforts because of thoughtful contributions from people like you. Jo Anne Fredrikson,
Corresponding Secretary Dear Jo Anne: On behalf
of the Rio Grande Valley Blue Star Mothers, On June 7th we shipped over 500 boxes to our soldiers serving in harms way. These will arrive in time for a little 4th of July cheer. Your donation will be specifically used for the cost of mailing those boxes. You can keep up with some of the activities of the RGVBSM on our website. Our meetings are held the first Saturday of every month at the Veterans Memorial on Louisiana and I invite your members to join us to meet some of the familities of our service men and women. We stay busy with making neck-coolers, supporting our wounded warriors and their families, and our greatest joy is going to the airports to meet our heroes when they return home. Your group might also consider contributing to the items we put in their welcome home bags. We include various gift certificates and other small feel good items. We continue these efforts because of thoughtful contributions from people like you. Sincerely, (signed by) Carolyn Donnell

Dear Jardineros de Placitas, I would like to thank you for your recent donation of $----- to our organization. We at Blue Star Mothers of America know all too well how the winds of war have changed the lives of many families. It is our mission to provide services until every service man and woman has come home. Our troops need to feel supported by all, for their dedication and service to country. Your generosity helps in that process. We encourage community involvement on all levels and welcome you to attend a troop packing party and/or mailing or perhaps to join us for a Welcome Home Tribute of a service man or woman who is returning home to Albuquerque. If you know of a family or service person that is in need of our services, please feel free to contact me personally. We are most recognized for our "care packages" that we mail out periodically throughout the year. If you know of a family who has a service member who would like a package, I would be honored to personally see to it that their name and address makes the next mailing list. Sincerely, (signed by) Jennifer Canfield The Blue
Star Mothers of America, Inc., is a Federally-chartered tax-exempt
501-c-3 service Organization. Your donations are tax deductible.
