Dear Joan, Please pass on to your members the thanks of all Placitas Community Library Board members and volunteers for the generous donation of $----- we recently received from Jardineros de Placitas. Jardineros members have been wonderful supporters of the Library since its inception and we are very grateful. The Library is actively pursuing finalization of the transfer of 4 acres of property from the County, has set in motion the development of a site plan for those acres and is establishing guidelines for a series of meetings to hear comments from community residents on what services they would like to see the new Library offer. Fundraising for operating expenses continues, of course. Be sure to mark your calendars for May 19, 2007, for a gala Friends of the Library Dinner/Auction and stop by the Library on November 18 and 19 for the Fall Book Sale. Dear Placitas Neighbor, Wonderful things are happening at your Placitas Library because of the support of our community! There's free high-speed internet access, copy and fax machines and an inter-library loan service. Shelves hold a growing number of quality books, CDs, DVDs and videos generously donated by you, our community. Book discussions, programs on birding, travel, the night sky and children's holiday celebrations have been offered, free and open to everyone. To maintain and make these services grow, we are asking for another kind of community support right now - your membership in the Friends of the Placitas Community Library. Your membership contribution will enable us to keep the doors open, the lights on and to expand the adult and children's programs we've begun this year. A membership envelope is enclosed - please use it now to contribute any amount you can. You may have read about the grants the Libray has received this year. The NM State Legislature designated funds for the planning and design of a permanent Libray in Placitas and Sandoval County has committed 4 acres of land for the permanent library. The NM State General Obligation Bond has allowed us to begin automating our collection. This means you'll be able to check out books more quickly and access information on our growing collection from your home computers. These grants are wonderful, but they can't be used to pay for day-to-day operating expenses. The Library is "Una Placita Para Todos" - a "place for everyone" - a dynamic resource for the entire Placitas community! Come in, check out a book, attend a presentation, join in a children's holiday celebration or just say "hi" and see what's going on. Use your Library! Support your Library! Dear Judy, Wow! Please pass on a huge "thank you" from the Placitas Community Library Board of Directors to your Board and all your members for your very generous donation of $---------- to the library. It was a wonderful surprise and one that is greatly appreciated. This coming year will be our year of fundraising since our expenses have grown considerably with the responsibility of monthly rent payments. We are in the process of having tote bags made with the image of one of the panels from the library door and they'll be available (we hope) at the Holiday Arts and Crafts show in November. Think Christmas presents! Meanwhile, we're working on the automation of the collection and adding new books all the time. We encourage all your
members to visit the library often and to take advantage of some
