Casa Rosa Food Bank    Last Donation: 2009

Supplies foodstuffs to an average of 30 families each Saturday. Monetary donations allow Casa Rosa to purchase food items such as canned meat, canned fruit juice and shelf-stable milk for children. Casa Rosa has no administrative costs and uses the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church house rent free. All money goes to the purchase of food and other personal items that are needed, such as toilet paper. In November 2008, Casa Rosa partnered with the Roadrunner Food Bank to purchase food and other items at reduced prices.

Haven House   Last Donation: 2009
 
The only nonprofit agency providing services for victims of domestic violence in Sandoval County. Haven House provides emergency shelter for approximately 20-25 women and children at any given time.

Las Placitas Association   Last Donation: 2009

A nonprofit community organization working to preserve the rural quality of life in Placitas and restore the riparian habitat of Las Huertas Creek. It sponsors the annual Flowering Desert Garden Tour in June, a Star Gazing Party, and group hikes throughout the year.

Placitas Artists Series   
Provides high quality concerts performed at Placitas Presbyterian Church. Chamber music is only half of what our concerts are!  We do folk (Watermelon Mountain Jugband), choral (Desert Chorale), ethnic (native flute and guitar), jazz and contemporary (saxophone quartet) -- a wide variety of concerts. Placitas Artists Series Education Outreach   Last Donation: 2009

The PAS Community Outreach program serves Sandoval County schools through "Music in the Schools," which sponsors performances and teaching experiences in music, drama, puppetry and even opera, to school children in the area, in both public and pueblo schools. We serve about 2,500 children through our Outreach program.

A nonprofit library established in March of 2003 to build literacy and community in the Placitas area by providing access to books, newspapers and the internet. We also feature a Children's Summer Reading Program.

A donation is made to the principal to be used and shared, through the school counselors, as the needs arise. Funds may be used to provide assistance to needy students in the form of school supplies, field trip expenses, clothing, or any other need that may arise that is helpful to a student.

Sandoval County Historical Society  Last Donation: Spring 2006

Maintains the historic Delavy House, which contains more than 1,000 photographs depicting Sandoval County from 1880 to 1980, as well as village histories and genealogical information. Located just off Hwy. 550 between Bernalillo and the Santa Ana Pueblo. The Sandoval County Historical Society hosts Jardineros de Placitas meetings, on occasion.

Shining Stars Preschool  Last Donation: 2008

The Shining Stars Preschool is a special education program for children who have educational disabilities. Children in the RRPS Shining Stars Preschool have Individualized Education Plans (IEP's) with learning goals and objectives based on needs identified through formal testing. The goals and objectives are guides for the staff to help the child acquire skills that other children of their age have already learned.

St. Anthony's Kitchen   Last Donation: Fall 2006

Feeds meals to the homeless and needy in Bernalillo at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church during the fall and winter months. Our contributions enable them to receive a grant of matching funds.

St. Vincent de Paul  Last Donation: 2008

St. Vincent de Paul Society, a part of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, is a group of men and women volunteering to works of charity and justice. A food pantry provides food, clothing and furniture to needy families, regardless of religion, in Algodones, Placitas, Bernalillo and Sandia Pueblo. This organization also sponsors a monthly Senior Wellness Clinic and case management for those whose needs exceed their means or need additional support from other agencies.

Wildlife Rescue, Inc.  Last Donation: 2009

of New Mexico is a non-profit, tax-exempt, all-volunteer organization that provides care for injured and orphaned wildlife. Each year over 2,000 protected, threatened and endangered creatures are brought to our clinic, located on the grounds of the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park, for care and treatment, and our phone volunteers handle over 10,000 calls annually. Donations provide the food and medical supplies vital to wildlife rehabilitation, and support our educational programs at the State Fair and in local schools, providing the next generation with intimate insights into the needs and values of our state's rich wildlife heritage.
