Dear Joan, Thank you so much for your wonderful gift to help the animals at the Ranch. Your generosity is so appreciated and we thank you for your generous donation of $------- it was a blessing. Your funds help us help the animals whether it is the 2000+ animals we rescue in our own community or for emergency situations like our Katrina rescue mission this past fall in Tylertown, MS. We are pleased to let you know that this mission was a huge success and we are following the progress of many of the animals that we saved {ref. photos "below" in original document}. Our WMR 40 foot transport trailer was able to rescue and save over 500 animals during our stay. These daily missions were literally lifesaving. Additionally we are setting up a statewide task force for future local and national disaster rescues with our transport trailer. Also we wanted to let you know that after months of meetings with Planning and Zoning, we are finally permitted to start full construction at the Ranch. One of our most crucial needs will be our medical clinic which will help our animals as well as serve as a cooperative resource for low cost spay and neuter surgeries for other local rescue groups. Our clinic is slated to open this April. As you are aware, pet overpopulation in New Mexico is rampant and Watermelon Mountain Ranch serves our community as a positive alternative to overcrowded shelters in our area. However, we are only as good as our resources of time, help, space and funds. We look forward to the day when we will have our full facility built and can fulfill the many needs in our rapidly expanding area. The majority of the funds needed to help the animals come from friends like you. Your generous contribution and confidence in our work will help vital programs continue. Thank you for making a difference, it means a lot to each and every animal that we place into a loving home and that will have food and a warm bed to sleep on tonight. On behalf of all of us at the Ranch we wish you all our best. Sincerely (signed by) Julien

Received: "February 14th - A Day Dedicated to Love and Caring" -- will you share your love this Valentine's Day by making a very special gift which will make a huge difference for the animals of our community? Dear Friend and Supporter: Last year, Watermelon Mountain Ranch took in and placed over 2,300 unwanted and abandoned animals. Many had major medical needs due to abuse and neglect. (Please visit our Special Needs animals on our web site www.wmranch.org) All were spayed and neutered before being placed into loving homes. In spite of our efforts and those of our * Shelter Partners, New Mexico still puts to death over 95,000 unwanted animals each and every year. The obvious answer . . . a low-cost spay and neuter clinic dedicated to rescued animals. After analyzing our medical and spay/neuter bills (over $80,000 annually) it was determined that it would be in our best interest to open our own in-house low-cost spay and neuter clinic at the Ranch. In addition to spay and neutering, the clinic will allow us to treat the animals on site for minor medical needs. This will result in a significant cost savings, not onlyfor us but also for the other rescue groups who face exactly the same challenges as Watermelon Mountain Ranch does - high medical bills and access to after-hours medical attention. Due to a generous gift, we are delighted to inform you that WMR will have a low-cost spay/neuter clinic at the Ranch specifically for rescued animals. The clinic is under construction and we are actively seeking our own in-house Veterinarian. However, we need your help in completing this project. Our goal --- to Raise an Additional $50,000.00. We are asking you to have a heart for the animals this Valentines Day and help us to get the clinic open with a financial gift that will aid thousands of animals and animal rescue groups across our state. Your gift whether large or small will make a lasting difference and naming opportunities are available. Thank you for helping us help the animals. Should you have any questions regarding our new clinic please feel free to contact me at my home office in Santa Fe. (505) 466-6232.
