 We meet the first Saturday of the month, except for the holiday months of January, July and September, when we will meet on the second Saturday of the month if an event is planned for these months. Special or ad hoc events may be scheduled for a different time (i.e., outings or visiting winemakers, etc.)

Our first outing outside of Placitas, November 5, 2009, at  Brasserie la Provence in Albuquerque for a tasting paired with food. A gathering from 6:30-7:30 with cheese and pate and sparkling French wine, followed by a sit-down dinner: salad or soup and then entree and dessert; a four-course dinner and wine tasting of four French wines:

1. Cremant de Bourgogne "Brut" paired with French goat and sheep cheeses
           and the liver pate in the bar

2. Les Charmes Chardonnay 2007 paired with the soup and salad

3. Chateau Greysac 2004 Medoc paired with the steak entree

4. Maison Nicolus Sauternes 2006 perfectly paired with the lemon tart for desert

Thanks to Vickie Kneemeyer for setting up the event, and filling last minute cancellations with a few of her friends. Our host, Christof was generous with the wine and the four-course dinner was superb.

Wine Pouring Rule of Thumb for Hostesses:

 A. Wine bottle pourers will be provided to the hostesses for each event.
If poured correctly the wine pourers only allow two Tablespoons/pour. For example:
2 Tablespoons ~= 30 ml; 750 ml wine bottle/ 30 ml per pour ~ = 25 tastings/ bottle
   
 B. To be conservative allow 20 tastings/ bottle.
This amount takes into account errors in pouring

You have the flexibility to choose whatever "theme" that you wish to present. So now is the time to pair up and plan your events.

Notification of Wine Tasting Monthly Events:

All Jardineros Wine Tasters will be notified of the next month's
Wine Tasting event on the Sunday evening following
the current month's event.

Please RSVP as soon as possible to the notifying wine co-chair.
In 2009, the wine co-chairs will be rotating the responsibility of notifying the members of the monthly events as follows:

January, April, July, October events: Sandy Pilcher

February, May, August, November events: Vickie Kneemeyer

Policy - Procedure for Wine Tasting Group - 2009

Signup Policy - On a monthly basis each member of the wine tasting group will sign up by contacting or responding to an e-mail from the chair responsible for the event. A list of hosts and themes will be available on the website for review by all members.
The signup procedure will take place at the beginning of the prior month and is the responsibility of the chair person of the month. All contact for the wine tasting event of the month will take place by the chair person. The chair person will send out a reminder notice to all attendees with cost, directions, wines to be tasted, food pairing, or request by hostess to bring appetizer or other food and wine glasses. The notice will go out the day after the wine tasting event - Sunday.

Sandy will be the contact for: Janurary - April - June - October
Vickie will be the contact for: February - May - August - November
Susanne will be the contact for:           March - July - September - December

Cancellation Policy: The contact for the month must be notified 24 hours prior to the event by phone or e-mail. By doing this, another member may be called and scheduled to attend the event by the responsible chair person. An alternate list is being managed by the chair person for the event. If you do not cancel within 24 hours, you are responsible to pay amount owed for tasting, if we cannot reschedule another member for the tasting.

Host Cancels - in this case the co-host will take over the event. We should have two hosts for all events.

At this time a total of 45 members have signed up for the 2009 Wine Tasting.
