First Round
The Eagles basically have a couple key needs to fill. Line
backer, Tight end, Running back, Defensive End to name
a few.
There are a number of players that the Eagles should look at
in the first round. Obviously , the draft selections of teams is
unpredictable. So I will give a couple of players who I think could
be there when the Eagles pick.
- Jason Witten ---TE . The best TE in the
draft may be there at 30. New Orleans may take him earlier. If we
don't get the TE here we will have to look for one later on.
- Michael Hayes ---DE . Solid player form
Penn State will more than likely be there. With the departure of
Hugh Douglas , the DE becomes a higher priority for the team and may want
to get the best DE on the board at 30 instead of the best player available
like the center Jeff Faine.
- EJ Henderson--- ILB . The best
inside linebacker in the draft. I think he will be selected by 30
but there is a outside chance that he could slip. If he does the
Eagles should take him. He would be my top pick of these three, followed
by Witten.
These players could be there too. It
would be very interesting if these players slip.
- Larry Johnson--- RB . He will be the first
RB picked. He might be there . I would pass on him because I
would use one of our two 2nd round picks and take Willis McGahee. Willis
is the best in the draft and would have been top ten but he tore his knee
in the bowl game. He is healing well and the Eagles can afford to
gamble a little with one of these two picks.
- Rien Long ---DT.
- William Joseph--DT. Both Long and Joseph
are considered top flight DT's. Joseph is a Sapp like player. They
are slipping on some mock drafts. Not so hot Combine performances are responsible
for their slide. They are both very good players. I would take
either DT over every player mentioned except EJ, my top pick.
- Mike Doss--- S. Top safety in the draft.
Don't be surprised if the Eagles pick him if he is there. They
need another Safety with Cook coming off an injury and Bishop gone. Plus
, they may want to get another Safety in case they can't sign Dawkins next
year.
