VIGIL FOR PEACE....
COMMEMORATING 3100 FALLEN AMERICAN SOLDIERS
Feb. 16th @ 7 PM in front of the Harford County Courthouse
across from 45 South Main St. Bel Air, Md.
Bring your own sign of protest and candle, or use ours.

Fortunately, Mike and I had the opportunity to attend the March for Peace in DC on last Saturday. I cannot begin to explain to you how overwhelming it was to walk up to the mall and see such a diverse crowd with at least one idea in common... ending the war in Iraq. It was like a circus with an incredibly serious undertone. While there has not been an official tally of those attending, it would be fair to say there were thousands....maybe tens of thousands, at this event. The goal of the march was simple... to get the attention of the media and the politicians and let them know how they felt.

The negative karma towards Bush was overwhelming and if he was anywhere in Washington, he had to have felt the many negative thoughts being sent in his direction. There was a huge amount of "Impeach" signs. Personally, I would love to see him out of office, but I feel it would be an incredible waste of the peace movements time and energy to get him impeached, only for him to be replaced by the warmonger Cheney.

The peace movement needs to continue to channel their energy into stopping this war.

Jane Fonda, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon were excellent speakers and really inspired the crowd.  Jane Fonda  explained why she has been staying away from the peace movement this time.

So many lies had been spread about her about the Vietnam protests and she didn't want her involvement to have a negative effect on the movement. But then she said something that we all can relate to..... She said she was speaking at this DC rally because "silence is no longer an option." How true. How can anyone continue to sit in silence?

Judy, the lady that created and maintains the Just4peace website, has made a video from the Jan. 27th march. It is very good, and if you have the opportunity, you should check it out.  It is on the just4peace website.

Utube also has many videos about the march... the following video gives you a good feel of what it was like in DC.

If another big peace march comes along, you should definitely give it a serious thought about attending. It's an experience that you will never forget and it makes you proud to have the right to assemble  and to live in this country that can be so incredibly embarrassing at times.

Hope to see you at the vigil Feb. 16th,
    Mike and Susan

Note:  We DO Respect and honor families who have lost loved ones and may not agree with us.  If they support the war; everyone must cope and come to terms with their loss.  We respect them for doing so.
