Thank You for
Attending the Feb 16th VIGIL FOR PEACE
COMMEMORATING 3100 FALLEN
AMERICAN SOLDIERS
|
We wanted to thank everyone who attended
the last vigil. It was cold and it was dark, but 42 brave souls
ventured out to spread the word. A friend of mine who attended the
vigil told me that the man working beside her told her that he
drove by some war protestors last Friday night (16th) at the courthouse.
He didn't know
|

|
that she was there....he was just
talking about what he had saw.
To me, that is
the goal of these vigils... to get people talking about the war
and thinking about it. Going to work and discussing it, or with
their friends and families. He said it was so shocking to see
something like that in Bel Air and that he wanted to join us, but
couldn't. This man also had been in the service for 10 or 15
years, and had just gotten out a few years ago. How encouraging is
that to know that people are talking about our vigils... and
ex-military people to top it off.
We also had the
pleasure of hearing one of our youngest protestors speak to the
crowd. 11 year old Lydia read her homework that she had written
about the war. She had to use her vocabulary words in a
paragraph.....
The war in
Iraq is very bad. Innocent refugees flee from their
homes are pulled out of their homes or they get killed! Back in
America, Susan has established a peace club to persuade
other people to stand up to Mr. Bush and his toy war! The more we
have an assembly the more people will stand up. Some people
look at our signs for resolved peace and to make a wiser
choice of who you VOTE FOR!
She said
it was important for her to speak out because people are getting
hurt... guess we really couldn't have said it any better
ourselves. Thank you Lydia for caring....
And
thanks to the group for caring. The tide has turned on this war,
and we must continue to press on to get our troops home and keep
America from attacking Iran.
In case
you are interested.. tonight (Feb. 25th) on the 60
Minutes show on CBS @ 7 PM will be Military members speaking out
against the war. Should be an interesting show...
interesting to hear what message they send to our politicians that
have never even been in a war.
One more
encouraging word before we go.... On Feb. 22 an assembly of
religious leaders gathered and spoke out against the war. This a
very important step in the right direction. We have often
wondered "who would Jesus bomb?", yet the church
continued to keep silent in an effort not to make waves and to
avoid being "politically incorrect". Below is an link to
the article about the gathering and what was said.
So please
continue to spread the word, and look for another vigil in
March... to commemorate 2200 dead and the 4th anniversary of
this unjustified war.
Peace to you and
your families,
|

Note: We DO Respect and honor families who have lost loved
ones and may not agree with us. If they support the war; everyone must
cope and come to terms with their loss. We respect them for doing so.
