All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is
for people of good conscience to remain silent.

So here we
are, the country's opinion of the war has shifted, but the war
still rages on. Now more than ever we need to continue on with
this momentum and draw in the new people that are hating this
war and help them to speak out along with us. We will be
sending a printable flyer within the next week. Please print
it out and post it at a grocery store, church, school, under
someone's windshield wiper... just put it somewhere and
hopefully it will attract someone new to our group.
If
you get the opportunity, we think you will find this article
from Time to be a VERY good read.
It deals with the issue of
"supporting the troops" while wanting to end the
war. Its a short article, but it puts into words the absurdity
of keeping soldiers in harms way in order to show
"support". The last line of the article tells
it like it is...
"Ultimately, in the case of Vietnam, the antiwar movement
included a majority of the country, and it saved the lives of
untold thousands of Americans by getting us out of that war
— not quickly, but eventually. If
opponents of today's war in Iraq manage to do the same, it
will be surprising if many American soldiers object. "
Pretty encouraging words for us "peaceniks", huh?
TWO more
notes, and I will close. Peace march in DC on March 17th... if
interested in carpooling down, let us know and we will put you
in contact with someone else going.
Also, April 7th..... the Eyes Wide Open exhibit will be coming
to HCC, so you may want to mark that on your calendar. We will
send more info as we get it.
Peace to you all
and we hope to see you on the 16th...
Susan and Mike
