What can I do?

Print
A Flyer - Spread the word. "Build it and they will
come." Let others know that there are many others who
feel the same. Invite them to come join us. As our group grows, we
become more visible to the public and even more will join us to honor
the sacrifices being made by soldiers and their families.
Tell them of our www.just4peace.org
website and that they are not alone.
Contact
your representative– It’s
not near as scary as you would think. Simply call or email your
representative and say that you oppose the war in
Iraq
and want our troops home now. They will ask your name, address and phone #.
There is no debate and it takes about 5 minutes of your time. If you live in
Maryland
call:
Senator
Barbara Mikulski
(202) 224-4654
Senator
Paul Sarbanes

Your
congressman depends on your area.. Find email and phone for all of your

Get
Informed – Part
of the public apathy about this war is because of the lack of knowledge
about the
Iraq
conflict. Learn, and share what you learn with friends, coworkers, etc. The
internet offers a vast amount of information. A google search on
Iraq
war, anti-war, peace, etc. will bring you to many informative sites. Also on
the left side of the home page there are some sites that are very helpful in
the quest for peace.
Connect
with the Peace Movement -
Being
with others with the same goal helps to make our voices louder. There are
thousands of groups across the country. AFSC and United for Peace and
Justice are two very prominent ones with
Baltimore
affiliates that list local events on their websites. Just4peace is our local
group whose events take place in
Harford
County
. We hold vigils for every hundreth milestone death of American soldiers.
(2000, 2100, 2200, etc). Our vigils groups vary in size from 30 – 50
people and last approximately 45 -60 minutes.
Letters
to the Editor– This
is free and your message goes out to a lot of people. It helps to do an
immediate response to an article that was about
Iraq
and give your opinion.
T-shirts,
bumper stickers, etc.– Use
your car and your body as a billboard. Let
others
know that you oppose the war and get them thinking about it. Help those with
similar thoughts realize that they are not alone.
