State Highway 100 near Harpeth Trace Drive
The stone pillars connected by chains are not part of the shrine but make up
the shrine's environment. The pillars were apparently built as part of a WPA
project in a nearby city park in the 1930s but there are no clear records of
their construction. The main poignant aspects of this shrine are the shattered
parts apparently from the victim's vehicle and the dying or dead potted plants.
Every week or two, I notice that someone has lit the candle. One time, I saw
a large red pickup truck parked in the middle of the road near the shrine, emergency
blinkers on, and someone doing something to the shrine. The hand-lettered sign
says "I was killed by a drunk driver."
