Enamored with fame, the female mystique, sex and life's brevity, art can cease time for awhile, freezing the moment of life's bloom such that a few generations might capture that moment displaced to them by their own imaginations. Armed only with color, form and two dimensions, painting a new love or the idealized memory of an old one is akin to offering unclaimed passion to an imaginary companion much as one might in an erotic dream, except that the mind is brilliantly albeit painfully conscious and in charge of the outcome. She is born of the brush, birthed of the wishful mind and once captured, and not all are captured perfectly, becomes an unceremonious offering to some future and unknowable viewer whether in the familiarity of the next five minutes or sometime within the next wildly unknowable five hundred years.
I've had the fortune to have traveled over the years... ......I have close Swiss friends and English mates. I've seen the sky from Skye, the Firth of Forth, Scapa Floe, Scara Brae, Canary Islands to Crete, Kit Carson pass to St. Kitts, danced with highlanders, romanced olde English, glimpsed Fergie and Andy at Trafalger, over-nighted the Alps. I've surfed Oahu, canoed the Hatchet, sailed the Gulf, the Pacific, Atlantic, Med, Aegean, the North Sea. Walked the Canyon, the Jungfrau, the Matterhorn, Hundstein, driven the PCH, felt the cold sting of Juan de Fuca, Athens from the Acropolis, New York from the ground, Africa from the air, Seattle from the Needle, April breezes of San Diego, San Juan, San Jacinto, wet air of New Orleans, the spring of my beloved San Francisco. I was at Altamont (missed the Stones), chanced prudently at Monte Carlo, Luzerne, Vegas, Tene Rife, Reno, Tahoe, Atlantic City, Paradise Island, aboard several ships and other places best left unspoken. I enjoy the peace of home and the comfort of Greek memories, Italian goodbyes. Have walked on glacial icebergs at Anchorage and fished the Keys ..... even won a TV game show back in the sixties. My education is in science and business, BS University of Southern Mississippi, 1983. My art is autodactic. I've painted for my own pleasure for thirty years. I admire and employ influences of Matisse, Picasso, Max, LeKinff, Mouly, Pollock, Turner, Rembrandt, many others greater than I. Art from current life-period is acrylic on canvas, each canvas hand stretched and primed, and most work is fitted to a painted salvaged pine frame hand-made by the artist to the dimension of the individual piece. These frames are but the shipping crate, designed to augment presentation and mobility.
