Feb 22 2004 - Finally back to work on the project. I started fitting the baffles, getting the RH sides, back, and front floor fit. I hope I am setting the floor and sides correctly to the inlet since the plans are a little lacking in this area. A couple pictures would have helped immensely.

I'm going to have to chop off this flange and graft on some angle as a replacement since the fit is so poor. All the holes lined up pretty well. Some people have reported very poor alignment on this piece, but this gap is my only problem area.

The front floor took most of a day, with the fitting and fabrication taking much longer than expected. I have not started on the inner wall yet. I made the hole big enough for the hose and fitting, but the firesleeve will have to end just below the floor since I didn't want to go that big.

Here is the RH side wall angles in place. As mentioned earlier, here is where I hope the alignment is correct. I set the side plate to be on the outside edge of the inlet and the floor to be even with the center of the bottom lip. The gap to the inlet is 3/8" as calld for in the plans.

I goofed and drilled the doubler rivets 1/8" - no biggie. I went ahead and installed all the rivets flush inside.

Mar 7 2004 - Yet another layoff. I forced myself to start working on these dumb baffles again or I'm never going to finish. This first shot is a leftover showing the brackets a little better on the RH floor.

Rather than continue on the front inner walls, I decided to trim the parts that have been fit so far to the top cowl. After numerous times fitting and then removing the top cowl, I now have the required 3/8" to 1/2" gap between all the parts and the cowl.

Here is the RH side parts all trimmed. Only the front area where the inlet ramps install still need trimming as well as the yet to be fit inner walls behind the flywheel.

Mar 12 2004 - After fitting the inlet ramps to the upper cowl, I trimmed the forward baffles. Frankly I'm at a loss as to how the seals are going to transition from the ramp to the cowl where the ramps end (the vertical part of the baffles where the pushrods start). I guess I need to transition the ramp into the cowl somehow. Any ideas?
