May 15 2004 - I started on the windscreen fairing by applying epoxy and micro balloons to the joint. I taped 3/4" in ch away from the joint both on the canopy and the skin.

When cured, I applied the fiberglass around the joint. I'll do the part around the rollbar later. This application started with 1/2" strips and ended with 1-1/2" strips stepping 1/4" each time for a total of five layers of coth. Peel-Ply is placed on top to make the surface easier to finish.

May 27 2004 - Fit upholstery to the inside of the canopy skirt after painting the forward portion.

I only went back to about 1/2" before the back bulkhead. The initial upward movement then keeps the fabric from catching on the skin.

I then placed the skirt in place and applied cotton flox and epoxy to the rear skirt sealing surfaces. The skirt was then dropped into place and left to cure. After cleaning up, it is primed as shown here. I also built up the area that straddles the slider rail.

Paint is drying in the sun and the skirt is pretty much ready to install. You can just make out the sealing lip along the top in this picture where it sits against the skin.

May 29 2004 - After pop riveting the skirt and canopy on to the frame, I glassed over the entire outside of the skirt to keep the rivet heads from coming through and to help tie the glass back together where I made the cuts to help the fit. The skirt was then filled and prepared for primer as shown here.

Two coats of PPG K36 primer. The first coat showed areas that needed improvement and was sanded completely off. The second coat was wet sanded and came out vey good.
