Jun 5 2004 - I haven't shown the cowl primer in progress, but it is just a bunch of sanding, primer, and more sanding. Like most of the other glass work, it looks like 3 coats of primer sanded off each time is going to be about right. Here the 3rd coat has been applied, but not sanded down yet, so I'm not sure all the pinholes are taken care of, but it looks good so far. I am using PPG K36 primer.

Jun 10 2004 - The cowl primer is complete, I have painted the interior white, and I installed some of the heat shield material from Vans where the exhaust gets close. Cleanup should also be easier.

The seam came out excellent. I set the gap at the thickness of my metal rule, roughly .016 inches. It may need to be opened up a bit.

The gap back at the firewall is in pretty good shape also, or at least as good as I am going to get it! I'm sick of the glass work at this point.

I am undecided whether the front screws should remain pan head or be countersunk. The rear screw will pick up a nutplate that holds the airseal fabric.

Oil door installed. I found that the latches oriented as shown were more effective than latching to the lower edge.

The door fit is not as good as I'd like and this will get some attention prior to painting.
