Aug 4 2002 - Final preparations before the bottom wing skins are riveted on. I made a support bracket for the electrical conduit where it spans above the aileron pushrod.

Another view of the brace, this time from the bay just outboard of the bellcrank.

At the end ribs, I made a .032 thick washer with an 11/16" hole which is the diameter of the smaller inner conduit ribbing. I installed the keeper so that there was a little bit of tension pulling the keepr tight to the rib. I then added some ProSeal under the keepr and around the tubing to keep things in place.

Flap hinge pin retainer. I went with the 4 eyelet removal technique and installed a #8 platenut on the flap brace to secure the pins. Here is a shot without the securing hardware.

Here the pins are held in with a #8 cap screw and two pieces of hinge material to secure the pins.

A view of the vent installed with Proseal and a few AN426A soft rivets. I thought it would be easier now than after riveting on the skins, hopefully it won't get in the way though when riveting.

Aug 9 2002 - I riveted on the LH inboard bottom skin along with the flap brace and flap hinge. I installed the aileron and flap in preparation for my next tech inspection, they were removed for riveting. I did this alone and it wasn't difficult at all. I riveted the entire rear spar first and then moved forward a couple rivets at a time across the entire length. The inboard access cover nutplates were installed, the other one will remain bare until riveting is complete.

Aug 24 2002 - The conduit routing and the brace I installed above really bugged me so I re-routed the conduit below the aileron pushrod for this single bay. Threading wire through should still be a simple matter and now there is no extra clutter to possibly jam the bellcrank. Note - I was worried about the brace somehow coming loose and jamming the controls due to vibration or whatever. To others still planning, route the conduit down low or on top but forward.

Another view of the modified conduit routing. A string cable pull can either be blown through or pulled with a vacuum prior to pulling the wires with the string leader.

Aug 26&27 2002 - I riveted on the RH bottom outboard skin - we now have a complete wing after just a couple more minor items to attend to. This skin was also installed alone but was definitely more work than the inner skins.

Sep 06 2002 - Primed the tank end ribs and rear baffle area. Installed tanks with all hardware. Installed access plates on bottom of wings.

Finished up the wing cart and moved the wings to their new home. Fuselage kit arrived a couple days ago - perfect timing.
