Oct 12 2003 - The axle shims arrived and I used a 1 degree shim on the RH axle shown here. The wheel pant mounting plate and brake calipers are also on. Finally, I drilled the cotter pin hole in the axle.

It's getting rather tall on its gear now. I'll probably have to get a bench seat or a step stool to reach some of the insides. The engine mount has been drilled and temporarily installed, we just need an engine now. The word from Bart was Oct/Nov so I'm in the window.

Oct 17 2003 - I did a clearance check on the stick. This is the bent stick from Todd Rudberg that positions the grip a little further aft for better ergonomics. In this shot the elevators are fixed at neutral.

And here is a shot with the elevators full up against the stop. The stick is just barely touching the seat cushion and can be easily moved side to side.

Oct 19 2003 - I decided to fabricate a cover for the flap actuator. I placed the armrest that came with the seats and upholstery from DJ in place to get an idea where the cover needs to be positioned.

Here is the .025 sheet that I bent up to cover the actuator. The three attach screws will go into the armrest and the bulkhead. The outer edge needs no other support.

A view from the inside. The outer lip will just rest against the side wall fabric.

Here it is screwed in place. I'll wait to paint the cover until I finish up some other map pockets and do everything at once in a couple days.

Looking aft. The gap along the outer wall was determined by placing some of the fabric in place and then drilling the mouting holes.

Oct 22 2003 - Here is the actuator cover painted and installed. Again, the armrest is just laying in place for now. This cover came out better than I expected.

While finishing up all the miscellaneous tasks as I wait for engine delivery, I added pockets between some of the fuselage bulkheads. Above the aileron trim plate is the front pocket and at the floor (just visible at the cushion corner) below the weldment is the other.

The same two locations are used for the RH side pockets. Barring side upholstery installation, the cabin is complete. I'm going to get shorter screws for these panels to attach with since some of the locations have the excess threads visible.
