Mar 21 2004 - I finally found a way to mount the Matco parking brake valve. First a new bracket was made that will hold the valve vertically.

Here is how the valve mounts. The holes for the straight fittings are 5/8" diameter and the overall height is 2".

The valve bracket is riveted to the aft baggage wall in the same place as the fitting bracket in the stock setup.

I needed to fabricate some new brake lines and the connectors you see hanging are for the transponder which will have to move to the left instead of being mounted in the center.

Mar 28 2004 - Since I finished up the installation of the bowden cables, all drilling is complete in the cockpit. I decided to go ahead and install some carpet up front. The RH controls are cabin heat and alternate air. The LH side has the purge control and a place for an oil cooler airflow control down the road.

The scuff plates are the stainless parts from Cleaveland and are riveted to the carpet.

I also made some pedal extensions as noted on Randy Lervold's site. They can be easily unbolted if they don't feel right.

I'm pretty pleased with the way all this turned out. The addition of the LH side wall and no visible ducting or plumbing give it a very clean look.

Started work on the filtered air box. After mounting the plate to the AFP attach ring and placing in the airplane, I found that the LH side only cleared the cowl by about 3/8" while the RH side had maybe 2.5 inches or more. I made a new plate and moved the attach ring over as much as possible - 5/8" in my case. Much better fit now. You can see the marks where the stock setup mounts the ring.

You can see how the front fiberglass edge rides upward on the metal top flanges. Like others I'll have to cut a vertical slit in the fiberglass one each side ahead of the filter and bend the bottom downward to meet the cowl inlet. I'll then glass in the resulting v-shaped gap.
