Apr 2 2004 - I added this page to better document the removable flooring since other pages did not address the issue well enough.

I left the hinge design per plans but drilled for #8 AN526C pan head screws at the hinge locations. These screws have a low enough profile to fit between the hinge segments when the seat is installed.

The LH side also has a screw through the hinge to pick up the rib. You can see just aft of the flap tube at the outboard end is the only rivet location I had to leave empty (both sides).

Some builders segment the floors so that the area around the flap can remain in place when removing the floors to make access easier. My approach was that the burden of removing the flap tube and rods is just a part of getting in here should the need ever arise. I do not see myself accessing these areas on any regular basis, but rather in case I need to add something in the future or if visual inspection from other areas necessitates a closer look at something.

A general shot showing the different fasteners. I opted to use flat head screws where I could dimple the underlying material for a joint that locks together well. Where the .062 angle runs, I chose to just leave the clearance hole and use a pan head screw since a countersink would require a pretty large hole in the angle.

Along the wall I also dimpled with the exception of the corner screws.

I knew those screws were going to be a pain to install so I used stainless cap screws in these locations on both sides.
