Kitchen has been gutted

Week 1 is complete. The kitchen has been gutted. The space looks awesome with the wall removed between the kitchen and dining room. I visualized myself cooking at the new stove while everybody is either in the family room or dining room. Getting really excited. Based on the plan (you all know that I live by plans), only 7 more weeks to go. By the way, heading out this morning to order the new stove.

"Lindy's Kitchen" Renovation

Well, after a year of planning (mostly by Elena), we are about to embark on the renovation of our kitchen. This is going to be the biggest home project since we moved into our home in Needham. Lot's of decision have been made; movement of walls, new dynasty cabinets, new laminate counter tops and the selection of a new stove. I can't wait to cook on the new Dacor Dual-Fuel Range. To be able to see what you are cooking is going to be a nice addition to "Lindy's Kitchen".

Mentoring

As a long time Keane, Inc. employee (18 years), I have learned a proven approach in delivering software development projects. With the adoption of David Allen's GTD approach, I have in place the beginnings of a really solid toolkit. This knowledge might help others.

A couple of weeks ago a colleague asked me to be there mentor. Over the past couple of years I have really enjoyed coaching within my teams. Watching a group of people come together and work as a team to deliver something, can really be exciting. Is coaching/mentor similiar to running a project team?

The mentoring meeting today focused on many different areas. The GTD principles (ie: 40,000 foot level, "Mind Like Water" and write it down) kept surfacing over and over again. Utilizing the MindManager mapping tool allowed us to quickly get the idea's down, without loosing track of the conversation.

What a fun meeting!!!!

Showed off the Blog's Today

I showed a couple people the blog's today. There seems to be some interest in this. I asked a couple people if they where interested in being interviewed for "The Monthly Communication" and they said "Yes". I think this is going to take off.

On a side note, I had the pleasure of speaking with Eric Mack on Saturday night. I am an avid reader of Eric Mack's blog because of the new and interesting technologies that he talks about. One of these technologies is Skype VOIP Phone service. Well, I tried calling Eric on Saturday night using Skype and actually hesitated when connecting with him. Eric saw me try to connect and called me back. (Eric, I think I fixed the volume control). It was very exciting for me to finally speak with Eric. Well after a very enjoyable conversation, Eric emailed me a really good article on setting up an RSS feed. This article motivated me to setup these blog's over the week-end. Thanks alot Eric for helping me "Get It Done".
