Awsome
The images and writings on my web page are my own creations. They include computer generated giclés, clay and stone sculpture, and pictures using a variety of media. Please click on "Photos" to view them. Click on each individual image to enlarge it. If you are interested in purchasing any of my art or publishing my writing, please contact me by email jwmerchant@comcast.net.
My writings can also be seen at webzines www.openwriting.com where my weekly column is titled American Pie, and at www.bonzer.org.au. I write about a variety of topics including Social Commentary, Americana, Florida, Connecticut, Boating and Autobiographical. Both webzines archive my writing.
Giclés
A giclé is the modern equivalent of a print. The availability of high quality papers and inks, combined with high-resolution photo-printers, has attracted many artists to this medium
I create the images on my computer using Corel Photopaint X3 software. They are created either from scratch, or by modifying photographs. The images are reproduced digitally on gallery quality paper, using archival inks. I usually limit the number of reproductions to no more than 100, and provide a certificate to this effect. The size of the giclé is determined by the purchaser’s preference.
Sculpture
My sculpture includes fired clay with a faux patina, and several types of stone, including Alabaster, Marble and Brucite. Brucite is a hard, veined mineral with a variety of green tones.
