Common Sense... On January 10, 1776, The American Patriot, Thomas Paine, published a pamphlet called "Common Sense". In the pamphlet, Paine sought to expose the American people to a new concept of liberty and freedom. He sought to provide a different perspective and alternative views to the fate and destiny of man. He spoke openly of independence from Great Britain and advocated a new experiment in government where the people maintained the power of government and government served to secure freedom to the people. "O ye that love mankind! Ye that
dare oppose, not only the tyranny, It is in the spirit of and amateur tribute to "Common Sense" and Thomas Paine, the stoker of the fires of American rebellion, that this site has been created. You might not care for much of what I write here - that's fine with me. The Brits never much cared for Paine either (or Adams, Jefferson, etc. for that matter). What is important is, if you have wandered into this corner of the web, that you walk away stimulated to thought and/or action. Home |
