Beijing, China

Forbidden City
Hutong Rickshaw
Making Pot Stickers
Chinese Kindergarden
Great Wall

We've read so much about Beijing, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City. It was a bit surreal to finally be here. It was in Beijing that we hooked up with 10 out of the total 20 other ASIA clients who were also going to receive their babies on this trip. It was a great chance to get to know them better, relax, and enjoy the amazing city of Beijing.

We did so many things in such a short time. Some of the highlights of our stay in Beijing were: the Forbidden City (had no idea how huge that property was); the Summer Palace (more beautiful to me than the Forbidden City); the Great Wall (it snowed the day after we were there); famous Peking Duck dinner (yum!); lunch at a private residence in the historical city of Hutong; a show with phenomenal Chinese acrobats; and shopping at a Chinese silk factory. It seemed like every minute of every day was packed with more and more to see and do. The guides were fantastic and so was Dr. Susan (the ASIA doctor who travels with each family through China and makes sure that you and your babies are healthy and happy during this stressful process...she is a ball of energy that never seems to tire or forget to smile!).

Once again, the time went by too fast. We enjoyed Beijing a ton and do hope to bring our daughter back there to see this special part of China and its sacred past.

After Beijing "the real" part of our trip began. We headed to Changsha, China, (the capital of Hunan province) to meet up with the rest of the ASIA families and begin the "rest of our lives"! :-)
