I started operating from the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier on Nov. 9th, 1996, using my new amateur call (K6DF), and continued till Nov. 14th, 1996. Approximately 94 QSO's were made during that time period.

This photo shows me operating the station on board the ship. Equipment used was a Kenwood TS-440S, (at my right hand), a Viking antenna tuner, (above the TS-440S), and an Ameritron AL-80A 1kw PEP linear amplifier, (above the tuner).
The antenna used was one of the ships whip antennas on the starboard side aft of the island structure.
