Welcome to the K8CC Amateur Radio Web Site, a depository of information, stories and links gleaned from the experiences of Dave Pruett as an amateur radio operator. K8CC is my amateur radio call sign issued by the Federal Communications Commission. The image above left is of my station's QSL card, which amateurs sometimes exchange to provide physical confirmation the over-the-air contacts that we make. The photo above right is aerial view of the K8CC Amateur Radio Station in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
For those of you who might not know what amateur radio is, it is a hobby where people use personal radio stations to communicate, purely for non-commercial purposes, with other radio hobbyists. Amateur radio has many facets, including learning about radio technology, assembling a station, and then operating that station on the air.
I have been an amateur radio operator since 1969 when I was a sophomore in high school. Pursuing this hobby has given me a head start in my technical education and my career. It has also provided me with a lifetime of great friends from all walks of life who share my interest.
I am a life member of the American Radio Relay League, which is the national association for amateur radio. Here is a link to the ARRL web site. I am also a member of the Mad River Radio Club, which is a club for amateur radio contest enthusiasts in Michigan, Ohio and the surrounding states. Here is a link to the MRRC Web Site.
Just about everything on this site has to do with amateur radio. It is a work in progress, which for now it might not be too pretty or clever, but it will continue to evolve as time allows. Eventually the site will contain stories about my amateur radio experiences, technical information which I wish to share, and links to sites which you might find useful.
