![]() Joe, K4OLA |
Joe, K4OLA of Tampa, Florida is a Michigan "transplant", who operated 160 meters years ago, when he lived on the "East side" of Detroit. Besides K4OLA, Joe has held the callsigns K8ONP and later as an "extra", K8ON. He is still active, but only operates 2-meters and EchoLink. He also has operated remotely via the internet using W4MQ. Currently, he spends all his time hanging out in Ybor City! K4OLA QRZ look-up |

This picture was taken at a SEMARA field day site back in the "good-old-days"! From left to right are Ed, N8COY, Neil, N8BAR, Ev, K8JTT (blue and white hat), Morrie, W8OHS (facing Neil), and another unknown amateur. SEMARA was the dominate radio club on the East side of Detroit. Many SEMARA members operated 160 meters back in the 50's and 60's, using cut-down broadcast receivers and homebrew transmitters, long before 2-meters was ever thought of. (larger image) |
