LESTER BRYON HATCH
Hatch, L. B, Russell, was born in Russell in 1857, a son of
S. C. Hatch. The grandfather of our subject was William, who married Temperance
Chalker, of Vermont, and had five children, three now living [1894]. Of
these S. C. Hatch came to Russell in an early day, and by industry has
made for himself a fine home, his farm being a valuable one of about 200
acres, upon which he now resides. L. B. Hatch was reared on a farm and
received his education in the common schools. At the age of seventeen he
began teaching in the schools of Russell, working at farming during the
summer time and teaching winters. He taught about ten terms, and on May
7, 1889 [sic 1879], he married Libbie Davis, daughter of Wheeler Davis,
of Russell, formerly of Delaware county. In 1881 our subject bought the
farm in Russell upon which he now resides and engaged in general farming
and dairying. He keeps an average of about fifteen cows and six or seven
head of young cattle. Mr. And Mrs. Hatch have two children: Herbert S.,
born October 16, 1882; and Grover L., born November 9, 1884. Mr. Hatch
is a Democrat, and he and family are members of the Baptist church. [Our
