Will of Jesse Wild - August 6, 1804

Jesse died 12 June 1805.  Will was probated July 30, 1805

In the name of God Amen.  I Jesse Wild of Williamsburg being in perfect health of body and of perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given unto God, calling to minde the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of mighty Power of God that gave it, And my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner

First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Judith Wild, the whole of the improvement of my lands on which I now live together with the buildings thereon during her natural life also my household furniture and three cows to be at her disposal and at her decease give the lands and buildings which I gave my wife to my beloved grandson Oliver Wild his heirs the son of Samuel Wild. I also give my daughter Sarah Curtis twenty acres of land lying in Northampton at the Northwest corner of the lot owned by Elijah Allen running so as to include the buildings thereon during her natural life and at her decease I give the said land above described to my grandson John Curtis, Ju'r.

I also give my son Elkanah Wild ten acres of land at the Northeast corner of the lot I had of Elijah Allen then running north on the land which I had of Wm Bodman so far as to make forty acres more upon condition that he pays in escrow as I shall hereafter direct one hundred and sixty six dollars sixty seven cents.

I also give my son, David Wild fifty acres of land lying south of the land given to my daughter Sarah Wild [Curtis] upon condition that he pays in legacies one hundred and sixty six dollars sixty seven cents.

I also give my son Thomas Wild fifty acres of land lying on the south side of the lot I had of Elijah Allen upon condition of his paying one hundred dollars -

A also give my son Jesse Wild Ju'r one hundred dollars.

I also give my daughter Lydia Coy thirty three dollars thirty three cents -

I also give my daughter Molly Claghorn's heirs thirty three dollars thirty three cents.

I also give my daughter Judah Wild one hundred dollars. Also one bed and bedding.

I also give my son, Lemuel Wild ten dollars.

I also constitute and appoint Sam'll Bodman and David Porter executors of this my last will and testament.

And I hereby utterly disallow revoke and disallow all and every other former testaments Wills legacies bequeaths and executors by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other as my last will and testament -

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four ----

COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS

By the Hon. Samuel Henshaw, Esq., Judge of the probate of Wills, and for granting Letters of Administration on the Estates of persons deceased, having Goods, chattels, Rights or Credits, in the County of Hampshire within the commonwealth aforesaid.

To all unto whom these presents shall come, Greeting:

Know ye, that upon the date hereof, at Northampton in the county aforesaid the instrument hereunto annexed, purporting the last Wills and Testament of Jesse Wild late of Williamsburg deceased, who had while he lived and at the time of his death, Goods, Chattels, Rights or credits, in the County aforesaid, is presented before me and proved.

I DO THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority to me given in and by the Laws of the Commonwealth aforesaid, approve and allow of the said instrument as the last Will and Testament of the said deceased--And do commit the administration thereof in all matters concerning the same, and of the Estate of the said Jesse Wild whereof he died, seized and possessed, in the said County, unto Samuel Bodman and David Porter the executors in the said Will named, well and faithfully to execute the same, and to administer the Estate of the said deceased, according thereunto; who accepts the said trust and gives Bond as the Law directs, for the due performance thereof.
