Will and Inventory of Samuel Hatch: dated 13 Jun 1728 proved 7 Jul 1735.
Samuel Hatch of Scituate married Mary Dotty [daughter of Edward] of Marshfield. He died age 81. The original will, inventory and executor's account are still preserved in the files of the Plymouth County Registry of Probate. All three were recorded in volume VII, pages 143-146, of the Plymouth County Probate Records. The following is taken from the originals.
In the Name of God, Amen, I Samuel Hatch Sen'r of Scituate in the County of Plymouth in New England Yeoman being aged and Infirm of body but of Sound mind and memory Doe make and ordain this my Last will and Testament, First I recommend my soul to God yt gave and my body to the Earth to decent burial at the Discretion of my Exec'r hereafter named and as Touching Such worly Goods & Estate as God hath blessed me with in this Life I give devise and dispose of the Same in manner and Forme following (viz)
Imps I Give and bequeath unto my Son Samuel Hatch my Sword, and the one half of my Chissells, augers, & handsaw which is in full of his Portion I having already by Deed ye Day given him about ye one half of the Farme whereon I now dwell
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Isaac Hatch my Gun & Grin-Stone, and ye other half of my Chissells augers & handsaw which is in full of his Portion I having already by Deed ye Day Given him about one half of the Farme whereon I now Dwell and allso Given him one share in ye Ceder Swamp as here after mentioned.
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Desier Hatch one of my cow's which Shee See's Cause to Choose, and the Feather bead and furniture Standing in ye Great Lower room which shee Call's her's and the Chest with Draws and the bigest Brass kettle and my Frying pan and my mare and my Great Bible
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my son Isaac hatch During his Natural Life one share in the Little Ceder Swamp, So Called, which fell to me in the Division of the Ceder Swamps within ye town of Scituate and is now lying & being in Hannover in Sd County and my mind and will is That after Sd Isaac's Deceas it shall Decend (and I doe hereby give It) to his two Sons (viz) Isaac & Josiah My Grandsons & to their heirs and assignes for Ever.
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Three Daughters Hannah Tincom elizabeth Bonney and Desier Hatch all the remaining part of my movable and personal Estate of Every Sort & kind not before in this my will disposed off to be divided to them shear & shear alike
Item I give and Bequeath unto my two Grand-Children ye Children of my son Ebenezer Hatch deces'd viz Ebenezer, and Sarah one shilling apiece to be paid by my Exce'r I having Given my sd Son Ebenezer a Sufficient Portion in his Lifetime
Item. I Give and bequeath unto my Six Grand-Children of my Son Josiah Hatch deces'd viz Edmond, Jabez, Josiah Desier, Zurviah, and Mary and their heirs and assignes for Ever The one Third part of all my Right and Interest in ye Undevided Lands within the Township of Rochester in ye County aforesd which I have not before disposed of (viz) To Each of them their heirs and assignes for Ever one sixth part of sd Third part. I haveing Given to my sd son Josiah a Sufficient Portion in his Lifetime.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my Sons Elisha Hatch and Ezekiel Hatch and Their heirs and assignes for Ever the other two Thirds parts of all my Right and Interest in ye undevided Lands in Rochester aforesd (viz) to Each of them one Third part, I having already Given them a Considerable Portion in Lands before.
Lastly I Doe hereby nominate and appoint my Son Isaac Hatch to be Sole
Exec'r of this my Last will and Testament and doe hereby order him to pay
my Just debts and Funeral Charges out of my moveable Estate before Division
be had & made thereof betwixt my said Three Daughters And in Testimony
whereof I the said Samuel Hatch Sen'r have hereunto Sett my hand and Seal
the Thirteenth Day of June anno Dom 1728.

Seal & heard him Declare this Instrum't to be his last Will & Testament,
& that they together with Susanna Morey Set to their Hands as Witnesses
in the Presence of ye sd Testator, Before Isaac Winslow, Judge of Probate.
Isaac Winslow Esq'r appointed & Commission'd to be Judge of the
Probate of Wills & for Granting of Administration in the County of
Plymouth within ye Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New Englan[d] To
all unto whom these presents shall come Greeting-
Know Ye that on the Seventh Day of July in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and thirty five Before me at Marshfield in the County aforesd The Will of Samuel Hatch Sen'r late of Scittuate Deceas'd to these presents annexed Having been proved was approved & allowed Who having while he lived & at the time of his Death Goods Chattels Rights & Credits in the County aforesd and the Probate of the sd Will & Power of committing administration of all & Singular the Goods Chattels Rights & Credits of the sd Deceas'd and also the Hearing Examining & allowing the accompts of the Same by vertue thereof appertaining unto me. The Administration of al[l] and Singular the Goods Chattels Rights & Credits of the sd Deceased and [his] Will in any manner concerning is hereby Committed unto Isaac Hatch So[n] of the sd Samuel Hatch & Sole Executor in the Same Will named well & truly to Execute the sd Will & to Administer the Estate of ye sd Deceased according thereunto and to make a true & perfect Inventory of all & singular the Goods Chattels Rights & Credits of ye sd Deceas'd & to Exhibit the Same into the Registry of the Court of Probate for the County aforesd at or before the last Day of September next Ensuing and also to render a plain and true accompt of said administration upon Oath : In Testimony hereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal of ye sd court of Probate, Dated at Marshfield aforesd the Day & Year first Above written-_Isaac Winslow.
