Gauss Master Mods
The Gauss master is a very handy and useful tool but
with a little help it
can become a much more .
Power
switch modification. This
simple
change in
the Gauss Master allows
the user to activate the unit in either the low or high sensitivity
ranges and
not have to keep your hand on the meter to operate it. With this mod ,
it can be
turned on and laid down to allow the user freedom for other
tasks.
Audio
Output Modification. This
simple
modification allows the user to use the
Gauss Master with an earphone , route the output to an
audio
recorder to
record signals found with the unit and route the Gauss Master
output to a computer
so that the output can be captured and analyzed with programs like Spectrogram .
This mod shows
both the plain audio jack installation and , if desired,
include an
audio switch to
quite the built in speaker .
External
antenna jack.
This
simple change adds an antenna jack on top of the Gauss Master to
access the instrument input circuit. With this mod , the
user can outboard the stock antenna,
add different antennas or even use the basic meter circuit / vco
portions as an
inexpensive " up converter " or signal indicator
circuit for other applications ( particularly
handy with " Stormwise
" antenna rods and circuits ).
Other Gauss Master modifications and additions.
Put
your Gauss Master on steroids . This
page shows you how to build a larger , more sensitive,
and much wider bandwidth antenna to soup up your Gauss
Master. ( needs the external antenna
jack mod ) This is a " on the edge " mod
for crowded
and ( electrically ) dirty urban environments.
This mod will boost the sensitivity of your Gauss
Master , but not too much.
Mega
range antenna / sensors using resonant
ferrite rod technology . This
page shows
the
construction and application of ferrite rod sensors / antennas
for a gauss
master with the
external antenna mod. These are " strictly " rural ,
non urban use sensors / antennas
because
they boost the Gauss Master to hyper sensitive levels. This
section will also show how to use the
" Stormwise " elf
preamp and an array of other preamp
choices , to boost the Gauss Master
sensitivity and range even more.
