Senior Promotions

Portsmouth Judo Dojo uses the USJA system to determine when you're eligible
for a belt rank promotion. Your promotion follows your belt test, in which you'll be asked to
demonstrate specific techniques you've learned for the test. You'll also need to pass the written
test, which consists of Judo-related vocabulary words and general Judo information.

in order to be eligible for your promotion test, you need to have been coming to class for
a specific period of time since your last promotion ("time-in-grade"),and you'll need
to accumulate a number of points. Here's a chart showing the minimum time-in-grade
