Pool
in the basement? |
| Here is a copy of an interesting email I recently received: (email from Mike)
Hello, I
stumbled upon your page.....I thought it was interesting. My
(now ex) father-in-law had a 16 x 30 inground in his backyard that he
wanted removed. Since I owned a Bobcat type loader, and had knowledge
of how steel walled pools are put together, (When my uncle was living
he use to build pools), I agreed to take on the job. I did it
a bit different though. After draining the water, and busting up the
concrete walk way (by hand), I took a pick and shovel, and dug down 3
1/2 feet deep, 2ft wide. Then rented a jackhammer and busted up another
foot thick of concrete. I then unbolted each wall, and carefully took
them all out. Then did the finish work, grading, and so on. After I got
married, I wanted a pool (Thats why I saved his entire pool), so I
reassembled half of his old pool and installed it in my basement and
made a room to house it. It looks like an Endless pool (www.endlesspool.com),
its 16ft long by 9ft wide. I even made a "form" and poured concrete to
produce a 4.5 ft deep end. I had to install this all above ground. Did
all this 6yrs ago, and still enjoy it every day! just wanted
to share that with ya. Take care!
Mike That's awesome Mike, thanks for sharing it with us! Here are the pictures, check it out Getting the pool... The pool, in its new home in this reader's basement. WOW!
