Veil Choreography
A spanish fusion choreography for intermediate to advanced dancers. Special focus is given to layering with shimmies.
Cane Choreography
A group dance for 4, 6, or 8 dancers. Beginning/intermediate level, uses basic cane techniques with dancer interaction.
Dancing with Zils
A group dance for 4,6 or 8 dancers, in 'gypsy-fusion' style. Suitable for intermediate level dancers.
Sword choreography
Focuses on sword balancing and basic floorwork(rolls and turns). Intermediate/advanced level experience, plus fitness and flexibility recommended.
2-hour Dance Workshops
Basic Veil dance
Teaches several beginning techniques of dancing with a veil and several dance combinations for use in taxim.
Stage Presence for the Dancer
Learn how to be 'larger then life' on stage by developing your dancer persona. Improve your poise and grace thru visualization.
Using Qi
How to draw on universal energy, to ground with the earth and center yourself. Use energy to improve your movement flow, find the level of 'dynamic tension' that allows you to gracefully extend yet relax your dance positions for a smoother movement flow. Direct your energy flow thru your body and send it to your audience for a connection they'll never forget!
4-hour Technical Workshops
Costume Beadwork - Creating a Bra and Belt Set
Teaches how to cover a purchased bra, and to pattern and fit a belt blank. Various beadwork techniques will be demonstrated for the student to use to embroider and finish their set beyond the class.
2-hour Technical Seminars
Theatrical Makeup
Choosing the right level of makeup for the venue and costuming, plus use of color for mood and in relation to lighting. Learn how to create definition of facial features to be visible from a distance, and to disguise flaws.
Workshop Sponsoring
What you need to consider and what bases to cover to successfully sponsor your first workshop. Includes discussion of music and video licensing issues, liability waivers, performer releases, publishing press releases, advertising, enlisting volunteers, engaging an instructor, etc.
Dance Costume Styles, and Completing the "Look"
An overview of the various styles of costuming used in Middle-Eastern Dance, and the historical ethnicities they apply to. Basic shapes and the entemologies of style development is shown.
