Cultivating clergy and church wellness is a
key initiative for the
Mississippi Conference. Many churches are involved in health ministry or
are launching new health and wellness activities and programs. These
include walking and exercise groups, healthy food cook-offs and
potlucks, blood pressure checks, health clinics, parish nurses, and
more. Share your church's health ministry stories with us by e-mailing

Bob Rambo, Starkville District Superintendent, Encourages
Wellness
Friends – as the weather becomes more Spring-like, I want to encourage
you to become more active physically. I also want to encourage you
to find ways to encourage healthier lifestyles in your congregations
[i.e., short-term walking programs; nutrition programs; etc.].
The Starkville District has consistently ranked in the top 3 districts
in terms of miles logged in The Amazing Pace program. We have
recently slipped, however. Barring the unpleasant weather forecast
for the next few days, join me in renewing your commitment to good
health by wearing your pedometers and walking. When I walk, I feel
better, rest better, am less anxious and tense, and enjoy life more.
I know this is true for you as well.
The Annual Conference is seeing great results from our progress in
dealing with health issues through exercise. Let’s continue to
“press on”!

(Coordinated Approach To Child Health) is an evidence-based
Coordinated School Health Program designed to promote physical
activity and healthy food choices, and prevent tobacco use in
elementary school-aged children. By teaching children that eating
healthy and being physically active every day can be FUN, the CATCH
Program has proven that establishing healthy habits in childhood can
promote behavior changes that can last a lifetime.
