An Exit
Plan for Iraq
I’m writing this because of
the debates about the USA
strategy in Iraq.
There are those who say “stay the course to victory”, others say we
need to get out right now. I say “set a course to stabilize Iraq”. We
can not just pull our troops out of Iraq immediately. To do so would
let the Terrorists take over with help from Iran
to turn Iraq
to an Extreme Fundamentalist Islamic state. A quick pull out would signal America does
not have the stomach to fight and it would be a victory for the Terrorists. If Iraq became a fundamentalist state it would
destabilize the whole Persian Gulf region and
threaten the Oil Supply from that area. If the oil flow is disrupted it would
bad effect on the economy of the entire world.
I would like to have our troops home as soon as possible. One possible way to get
that done is with my exit plan. First we need to bolster the Iraqi security
forces so they can police there own country. Then we should have the UN send
peace keepers to Iraq to
keep it stable and to take some of the burden off America. The UN peace keeping
mission is working in Lebanon
right now after the conflict with Israel. I believe it could work in Iraq too.
One thing is for sure, we
cannot let Iraq
slip to the dark side. The USA
and the world should make Iraq
a better place for future Generations. Once Iraq
is stable the USA
should leave and let the Iraqis and the UN police
their country.
