This is not only one man, this the father of those who shall be
                  fathers in their turns,
In him the start of populous states and rich republics,
Of him countless immortal lives with countless embodiments
                  and enjoyments.
How do you know who shall come from the offspring of his
              offspring through the centuries?
(Who might you find you have come from yourself, if you
could trace back through the centuries?)

A Connelly Family History
Introduction
The Connelly family can be traced back as far as the 16th century in
Ireland. The original Gaelic version, Conghaile, means "valorous".
They were an ancient sept of Connacht, who in time separated and dispersed
as three distinct families. They are still mainly based around Counties
Cork, Meath, and Monaghan, where they were one of the "Four Tribes of Tara".
The family name has claimed to descend from Congal, a 10th century Chief
of the southern Hy Niall. In Monaghan, about 1591, Tirlogh O Connola is
recorded as being chief of his name.
