JEREMIAH BOLLING

Jeremiah Bolling Sr. (1782-1852 ) was the son of Benjamin Bolling. Records show that he accompanied Benjamin from Esserville across the mountain to the South Fork of the Pound River to cut a brush pile or two, which was to serve as his improvement, or claim on the land.

Jeremiah was born in the Hillsboro District of Randolph County, N. C. In the 1790 Census Benjamin lived in this area  of Randolph Co. with 3 boys under 16 and 5 females.

When Benjamin settled in Wise County about 1791 after he had made this claim about two years earlier, his second wife Charity Larrimore and his son Jeremiah was with him.

Jeremiah returned to North Carolina, where he grew to manhood and married before he returned to his claim on the South Fork of the Pound River. His wife was Sally Ward who is said to have come from the Waxhaws District of South Carolina the same area where Andrew Jackson was born.

Jeremiah  gave his children portions of his land.  Jeremiah Jr. lived in his old home, later his son , Reuben Bolling occupied the spot where his forefathers had settled.
