MEN’S CLUB BY-LAWS

ARTICLE
I. Name, Purpose and Boundaries
Section 1. The name of the club will be
Tri-Mountain Men’s Club.
Section 2.
The purpose of this club shall be to stimulate and advance the pleasures of
playing golf. To develop a fraternal spirit among local
neighbors and
those who join from
outside the Port District.
Section 3. The boundaries will be unlimited.
ARTICLE II
Membership
Section 1. Membership in this Club shall be of two
types:
a. Charter members who
were the group of people who committed early
and worked at
setting up the Club.
b. Regular membership
will consist of those people who join after the
Club has been started.
Section 2. All persons interested in the purpose
for which this Club is organized
shall be eligible for membership and shall
become a member upon
application and payment of dues. Men’s rules
apply.
Section 3. Membership in the Club may be
terminated for non-payment of dues or
acts of degradation toward the Club. This
shall be accomplished by an
appointed committee or by
a majority of the membership.
Section
4. Tri Mountain Men’s Club membership and participation is
available to
amateur golfers only. Former Professionals
cannot apply for membership
and participate in any
Men’s Club event (including Saturday pot games)
until they have been reinstated to Amateur
status by the USGA.
ARTICLE III DUES:
Section 1. Membership Year will
be January 1 through December 31.
Dues for members shall be set annually by the board,
required of every member except the board members. It shall be paid upon entry
and then annually each year. Failure to pay the annual dues by March will
automatically deactivate membership. Dues paid after the end of March will be
at a higher rate as determined by the board.
ARTICLE
IV Meetings
Section 1. Meetings of the Club may be on {example} the first Saturday
of each
month, before first tee time; except where holiday
week ends conflict.
Special meetings may be
called by the officers of the Club.
Section 2. At any meeting, a quorum shall consist
of the majority of the members
attending.
Section 3. At monthly meetings, resolutions may be
adopted and instructions may be
issued to the officers, provided they do not
abridge powers specifically
granted to the officers
by the by-laws.
Section 4. All meetings shall be conducted in
accordance with the applicable portions
of Robert’s Rules of Order.
ARTICLE V Voting
Section 1. To be eligible to vote, a member must
be a paid-up member in good
standing.
Section 2. There shall be no voting by proxy.
ARTICLE VI Officers: Officers are expected to
attend all meetings. Excessive absenteeism may result in termination from the
board.
Section 1. The President shall preside at all
meetings; shall appoint all committees as
authorized by the membership; shall be a
member ex-officio of all
committees; shall carry
on those responsibilities assigned to him by the
bylaws.
Section 2. The Vice President shall perform the
duties and have the power of the
President during the President’s absence. In the case of vacancy in the
office of the President, the Vice President
shall fill the office of President
for the unexpired term and a special election
shall be held for office of
Vice President.
Section 3. The
Secretary shall keep the entire Club’s records, take minutes at
meetings, issue newsletters,
handle correspondence, maintain a
Roster of
members and a list of committees and their
members. He may sign checks
for
mail expenses.
Section 4. The Treasurer shall keep the accounts
of the Club and have charge of its
funds; shall receive applications for
membership; shall keep all of the
Club’s funds in a bank approved by
the Club in the name of the Club. The
President, the Treasurer and the Secretary
have the authority to withdraw
funds from the account in the interest of the
Club. Two signatures are
required for amounts greater than $ 200.00. The Treasurer shall
disperse
the funds
of the Club under the direction of the President. The Treasurer
shall
prepare a report for each meeting.
ARTICLE
VII Elections
Section 1. Elections shall take place at the
November meeting. Officers shall change
places in January. A majority of votes cast
by those present shall elect.
Section 2. The
immediate past President shall serve as Advisor for a period of one year.
ARTICLE VIII Committees
Section 1. The standing committees shall be:
a. Handicap
Chairman
b. Tournament Director
(1). The duties of the Handicap Chairman consist of:
(a). Entering new members & maintaining active
members in the GHIN computer.
(b). Coordinating with the Secretary so that
the club data base is kept
congruent with the GHIN computer.
(2). The Duties of the Tournament Director consist of
arranging/coordinating:
(a). Monthly tournaments, including rules.
(b). Weekly events.
Section 2. Other Committees may be established as
needed.
ARTICLE
IX Amendments
Section 1. These by-laws may be amended, repealed
or revised in all or in part by
open discussion at
regular meetings and by majority vote of
the membership
attending. All members shall be
notified of any changes
in the by-laws.
ARTICLE X Funds
Section 1. This Club is not intended as a profit
making organization nor is it funded
with expectations of
making a profit. The Club shall use its funds only for
objectives and purposes specified by these
by-laws. If this Club disbands,
all Moneys in the treasury shall be donated
to a local club
interested in the advancement of youth golf
programs. The authorization
of this use will be by
vote of the membership.
Section 2. All major expenditures must be approved
by two officers and/or the
majority of the membership at a meeting.
ARTICLE
XI Tournaments
Section1. Members
must give proper notice to Men’s Club prior to not playing in any event they
previously signed up for. Failure will result in the member paying the entry
fee for that event, not green fee. Proper
notice is defined as the Thursday at close of business prior to the weekend
tournament. The member will be ineligible for any Men’s Club event until
the entry fee is paid.
Regarding events with prepaid status: The
Member will be refunded his money if the above guidelines are met. If they are
not met, the Member will be refunded only the amount of the actual cost of
green fees.
Any disputes can be
brought forth at the next meeting of the Board of Directors for full review.
Section 2. Participation in the Tri Mountain Men’s Club Championship:
All members are welcome and encouraged to play. To be eligible to be named the
Tri Mountain Men’s Club Champion, a member would need to participate in five (5) Men’s Club events during the prior twelve (12) months and an additional five (5) played/posted rounds at the Tri Mountain Golf Course during the current handicap year. These would include Saturday pot games and monthly tournaments. A member not meeting the above requirements will not be eligible for net winnings or be eligible to be named Club Champion. The Men’s Club Champion will be determined by the low gross score from the blue tees.
