68 Mustang - Progress 2

September 21, 2005

Only a little more done. I lost a lot of time as I took it to a welder and they did an OK job (not great) but they had it for 6 WEEKS and never did patch all the holes I wanted, so I paid $450 for welding the new rear partial frame rails, new patch panels in the trunk were those rails attach, floor pan, patches for large holes in toe board on both sides, wrapped the bell tower on pass. side, patched the front frame rails, new inner fender apron and battery tray and front floor frame supports. I think the price was reasonable but the time was not. Especially since I still have holes and I need to find a water leak. I think it's my windshield and am hoping it's not my cowl. Anyway here's a few pictures. I need to adjust the pass. fender as it was hard to get back on after the welding so the hood doesn't line up right. I plan to replace the exhaust donuts and then try welding the remaining holes myself after a couple of lessons from a friend. Plus finding that leak, so I can fix it. Then I need to do some rustproofing on the chassis and interior and fix the body, then new weatherstripping all around, finally followed by the interior and then some new tires. I am guessing around May 2006 I might be done.
