The interior is pretty much done. I installed the new stereo, speakers, rear seat, all the seat belts, door panels (I left the water shields out for now as I need to adjust the windows slightly), all the handles, weatherstrip around the doors. Replaced the stock 2-row 16x20 radiator with a 3-row 16x20 and replaced the mechanical fan with a Hayden 16 inch electric fan, relay and fixed temp switch) This did a good job of eliminating the overheating I was having. I think it's mostly from the new rad.) I also installed a Pertronix Ignitor II ignition and coil. This made a noticeable difference in starting and idle. So I'm pretty much ready for the body work. I want to take it to a couple of pros for estimates and then decide how much I want to tackle myself.
8/1/2006 - I am working on the A/C now. I had to pull the a/c clutch and clean it up as well as the brushes. They weren't working but are doing great now. I also had to lube the baffle in the heater / a/c plenum as it was sticking and the baffle triggers the a/c switch. I also decided to run a bypass switch in case it gets stuck again plu I like the modern cars that you can push a switch for a/c and then direct the air anywhere you want. Like a very humid/rainy day where heat for defrost doesn't clear the windshield as well as a little a/c. I charged the system with ES12a, which required a modern quick disconnect fitting on the low side, but am not getting low side pressure so I'm looking to replace the expansion valve as pictured in the last 2 photos. Advance Auto had the least expensive one @ $15.99 and I also decided to buy a new mini-Tach ($34) since the 5 inch one is a little big. I also had some trouble wioth the vacuum not being strong enough to move the actuaters for the various baffles when moving the controls, but I think I was able to trace it down to a loose hose on the vacuum canister. I may have to go back to the mechanical fan also, as it wants to overheat if the a/c is running and the fan is running continuously. If I do go that route then I'll go ahead and buy the shroud from my local Mustangs Plus store for $50. If it works then it's a better investment than burning up my engine.
