Have a fun time this summer staying at our roomy, comfortable , and well furnished and equipped house in the nicest housing development on the north part of Lake Tahoe! Enjoy the great recreation facilities of the Dollar Point Subdivision, the beautiful views of the Lake, and the many other nearby recreational activities.
Our house is a modern four bedroom, 2 bath 4 level chalet on a large lot facing southwest towards the Lake. You have a nice but somewhat filtered (through the treetops) view of the Lake from the high vaulted ceiling living/dining/kitchen area of the house. When you walk into the house from the parking deck you are on the upper level, where you'll find a well-equipped kitchen and a large dining room table. We've equipped the kitchen with just about any appliance that you'd want including a microwave oven, toaster oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, food-processor, coffee bean grinder, popcorn maker, etc. You'll find an ample supply of food preparation, cooking, eating, and drinking utensils. The dining room has a heavy, long, wide, rectangular table with benches beside the long sides and chairs at each end. There is also a breakfast bar between the kitchen and the dining room.
Going four feet down a short set of stairs you are in the large living room area, which is open to the kitchen/dining room area. Two large comfortable couches and two large cushioned chairs are centered in front of a large, stone, wood-burning fireplace. You'll also find a music system with cassette-tape deck, and CD player. There also is a TV and VCR.
The front wall of the living room is all glass and leads to a large sunny deck, where you'll find a large charcoal BBQ, picnic table and benches, and an ample collection of chaise lounges, and deck chairs . The deck is about 20 feet above the ground, so you get the feeling of being up in the tree tops. From the deck you have a nice view of the beautiful mountains ringing the southern and western shores of Tahoe, and a somewhat filtered view of the Lake just a quarter of a mile down the hill. You'll also enjoy the sun shining on this deck almost all day long.
Four feet down from the living room are two bedrooms and the first bathroom. One bedroom has two twin beds, and the other has two double bunk beds with twin-sized mattresses. Both this bathroom and the second one on the next level down have a combination shower/bathtub, as well as a cabinet/sink and toilet.
Two more bedrooms, a second bathroom, and a washer-dryer room are on the lowest level, another four feet down. One bedroom has two twin-sized beds, and the other has a queen-sized bed.
The house is carpeted wall-to-wall except for the kitchen and bathrooms.
Have fun at the Dollar Point Recreation Facilities:
Two blocks walk from our house takes you to our Dollar Point Homeowner's beautiful large (junior-Olympic-sized) pool . It is open and staffed by life guards daily during the summer from 8:30AM to 6:30 PM. They keep the water at a very comfortable temperature as well as sparkling clean. For those who like to make a big splash, there is a one-meter diving board .
A large well-manicured lawn is next to the pool. On it, you'll find both sunny and shady areas for relaxing, reading a book, having a picnic, or taking a snooze while the kids play in the pool. In one corner of the lawn is an exciting play structure for the kids when they get tired of the water.
Three of the five tennis courts in Dollar Point are next to the pool area. A tennis pro is available most of the summer to give you lessons on improving your strokes and serves. (There is a charge for the lessons.)
The Dollar Point beach, pier, and second set of tennis courts are a four block walk from our house. The wide sandy beach is about 200 yards long, and offers spectacular wide-open views of Lake Tahoe. When the Lake is at normal water level, there is a nice swimming area in front of the beach. A long pier extending about 100 yards out into the Lake is at one end of the beach. If you want to bring your boat while staying at Dollar Point, there are a number of anchoring buoys that may be available near the end of the pier. These rent for about $20 per day. Our Dollar Point Recreation Manager has someone at the beach to provide dinghy shuttle service from the pier to your boat during the daytime hours.
It's hard to concentrate on your game when playing tennis on the lake-facing side of the two additional tennis courts above the beach, because the view is so spectacular!
There are many things to do and enjoy in the summer at North Lake Tahoe. There are several fine golf courses, many miles of biking trails, many lovely hikes in the wilderness areas of the nearby high Sierras, para-sailing, boating, fishing, water-skiing, river-rafting on the Truckee River, and even bungee-jumping. The North Shore also has a great selection of many fine restaurants. For shoppers, Tahoe City offers a number of interesting stores, as well as a number of fine art galleries. Nevada's Crystal Bay and Incline Village casinos are just a few miles away for those that like to gamble. Historic Truckee, a short drive from Tahoe City, has many additional interesting shops as well as a factory outlet center.
We don't furnished linen (sheets, pillow cases, towels) for our house, so you should bring your own or arrange linen service from our rental manager. There will be a fee of about $100 for this service. However, there are plenty of blankets and pillows for the beds. Other than that, just about everything you'll need to use the house is furnished.
The check-in, check-out, and rental finances are normally handled by our Tahoe City rental manager, Wells and Bennett Realtors, unless we have arranged to rent directly to you. When you arrive at Tahoe City, you will check in with Wells and Bennett, and they will provide you with a key and map, as well as being your primary contact if you should need any help or have any problems with the house or Dollar Point Recreation Facilities. They will also handle the collection of the rent, deposit, cleaning and linen fees, and the return of the deposit, after you check out.
Before you check out, you should spend a little time to do some of the needed cleaning items that are beyond the basic cleaning that will be done by the rental manager’s housekeeping service. This service checks for damage and does some basic cleaning, such as cleaning the toilets, sinks, bathtubs, vacuuming the carpets where there has been traffic, dusting, and cleaning the kitchen and bathroom floors. If any cleaning is required beyond this there will be an extra charge beyond the basic cleaning charge, which will be about $100.
When you check out, you should return the key to the Wells and Bennett office. After this, an inspection service will check the house to be sure that it is left reasonably clean and that there hasn't been any damage. Wells and Bennett will then return your damage deposit to you by mail.
Detailed house usage instructions are posted on a bulletin board in the kitchen. We will also mail you a copy of these and a map before you depart from home for your stay at Tahoe.
We think you will find our house and the Dollar Point Area a most enjoyable vacation experience! Please call us at 1-925-376-2568 to check availability and to make reservations.
